nah, here's how it flows in cali.

1st - Drivers Education from either a High School or Driving School (In class/online)
2nd - You need proof of Drivers Training with a Driving School (6 hrs required)

- Once you have those two slips then you may test (written)for a learners permit.

3rd - You must hold your learners permit for 6 months before able to get license.

During that time, you must:

A- Do the 6 hours of DT with the Driving School.
B- Have 50 hours of practice with a licensed guardian age 25+

After 6 Months, and completion of a minimum of 56 hours, you can test for a drivers license. (Behind the wheel.)
