The Columbia tree is the tallest tree in Yosemite at 285 feet tall. These sequoias are so dang big, you cant get them in the frame without serious distortion, even using a tilt shift, although this particular shot was with the 16-35.

That was a great place to visit. Now to get up to the White Mountains.

Didn't have time to head further south. I want to do an eastern sierra road trip in fall, when the aspens turn and go all the way down to Death Valley.

This one taxed my puter to the limit. It's an 11 shot pano from the top of Glacier Point. I may get a large print done of this, but I will see what I still have from the trip before I decide. I haven't finished the first day's shots yet.

I don't know about a large print. I like your individuals much more, higher contrast. Especially the Half Dome and Pywiack shots. If you are going to DVNP then the Bristlecones are right up the road.

Speaking of Half Dome, look closely to see the hikers enjoying the view from the top. Even when I could walk, I would have never gone up using those cables. Yikes!

Taking a Fujifilm X-T1 for a spin. I really like the size of this system (much more portable via motorcycle than full frame Canikon gear). I'm still undecided/unfamiliar with the IQ and file manipulation.

IRide, I have a Fuji X100, and I think you will find the file quality excellent. The interface on mine is a bit clunky, but they have been improving their line consistently since then. From all I have read, the X-T1 is an excellent body, with a great selection of glass to boot.

remmib, your whole country seems to be a national park! Great photos.

What are you using as a RAW converter? Many have said that Photoninja or Iridiant are preferred to Adobe ACR or Lightroom. I need to download the trials and see if they are indeed better than Lightroom. I do like the physical size of the Fuji, but I may like the Sony files and detail a little better. Perhaps, the other converters will help sway me towards the Fuji.

I use LR, so I can't comment on the others. I will say that I also like the files I get with my Nex6, which I use more than the Fuji because I can shoot it one handed easier, which, when your're standing on crutches, like I do, is an asset, as well as the tilt screen. I should probably sell the Fuji, but it just looks so cool

Nice detail on that pic, IRide. I've been toying with the idea of an X-T1 but I'm not sure I want to deal with another line of gear and there's no way I'm giving up my current setup. I'm not sure I would use the X-T1 enough to justify it. I can see where it would have a big advantage when hauling gear around by motorcycle, though.

Ed, that Half Dome shot really gives a sense of scale. What a massive chunk of rock.

The size of the Fuji is not only nice for packing on the bike, but would be great for just wandering around the zoo. The Fuji body with 18-55, a 55-200, and a 10-24 weighs in under seven pounds. Much easier on a seasoned citizen!

I'm contemplating the Sigma 120-300 f2.8, which weighs in at just over 7.5lbs. My arms ache already.

Here is a quick snap from my Sony. I pretty much leave it set at ISO 400 in AE at f8, so I can take pics from the car. I took this right out of my window while driving into the park in the morning using the 16-50 kit lens.

When you can take shots like that why would you ever want to get out of the car! Nice.

I got to mess around with a one of a buddy's x-t1 (he's one of our second/third shooters) at our friend's wedding in costa rica. Since i was in the wedding party there was no way i was going to lug a whole dslr kit, just going to let the photogs do their job with as little interference as possible, we only brought an x100 and an x-t1 with a little glass. The x-t1 evf is really something else.

Anyway a quick star shot i took when i got back to the room. I wasn't sober enough to operate a tripod but was able to aim it sufficiently and mount my x100 on the room service menus.

Nice! I took some similar shots from my hotel balcony near Yosemite last week. I haven't gotten that far yet to see how they came out. We did have a tripod set up, but there was also a lot of beer involved, so who knows?
