Any recommendations though on how far the spoiler should be from the end of the trunk? Should I just have it as close as possible?

I was thinking the same thing. A lot of people keep it about 1/4 to a 1/2 inch from the trunk line but I prefet the spoiler flush with the trunk line, i think it looks a lot better. I tested it out this past weekend and it seems the spoiler bends pretty easily. I just hope the bending doesnt crack the paint.

We had some customers let the spoiler flush to the trunk, but I think it looks better to place it 1/4 to a 1/2 inch from the trunk line, just like the way M3 has.
remember to post some installed picture after you got it installed.

I had mine installed, I actually passed by the BMW dealership, its a 2min walk from my place, and saw how the actual M3's spoiler was installed and did it the same way. It looks really good and the fitment is great. I'll post some pics very soon, my car is just really dirty so I'll post some pics as soon as I get it washed.
