According to people who know things (Including the guys who run bimmerlabs), the tune for all x30i cars is identical.

The only changes are not in the software: Euro IAT/Euro Airbox in some and different intakes/exhausts. There's also the option that some cars were underrated/overrated for the power that they actually made

hey guys - just checking in because I've been busy and haven't been able to respond to the deluge of daily emails. I'm limiting the amount of custom tuning because I can realistically only do one at a time, and right now I'm working hard on a fine-tuned baseline for N52 swaps into other cars.

I haven't gone back and read all the pages of this thread in a while - has anyone had any problems with the newer Bimmergeeks cables? I've had some issues flashing with a few cables and I think it might be a firmware bug. I know the owner so I can communicate that to him if it's the case and get it fixed, but it's hard to tell if these are one-off problems or if it's more common. BTW, Bimmerlabs doesn't sell or profit off the cables at all - the "store" is just for your convenience.

They are sending me a replacement cable. The one I got seemed dead. Would not light up when plugged in. They had me try in other vehicles and the same result, so another one is coming.

Bit frustrating as I'm in Canada and it will take 2 1/2 weeks to get here, but happy they responded on Good Friday (holiday up here) and are replacing it hassle free.

Yeah I noticed that too. Wtf?? He was so helpful here. It would be nice to know why so as to avoid my own banning.

I keep getting this error when ever I try to flash my GM912 Transmission on my 328i 2009. This is the only stock file available. I am getting panic, the engine runs and start, but the transmission shift or work! I am using a K + DCAN cable. Should I change the settings on the cable? Is it a port issue? I was able to reflash the ENGINE/ECU with the 330i engine tune. It worked! The issue is the TCU!!!!!

That's a stock GM trans calibration. It's not a "tune". What cable do you have?

So currently GM1912 330i tune is taken down correct? Do you know when it will be available?

Are there "OTS" -type files available for those of us already running the bimmerlabs 330i/non-maf software, but adding things like headers/milvs, or is that part of what you're taking offline right now?

That's stuff you kind of have to do manually, because there are configurations/settings that conflict with different combinations of mods. You can't just put headers on a non-MAF tune without changing some things that you wouldn't necessarily have to adjust if you didn't have that particular combination.

when I can reliably identify the variants of GM1912 I could put it back up. It's not even that flashing the wrong file will permanently brick the TCU, but I don't have time to help everyone troubleshoot. So if it's not completely reliably going to work I don't want to post it.

He got banned because he posted something slightly more political in the main forum page (none90) and an admin didn't like what he said. I bought a bimmergeek cable and it didn't work on me. Just wouldn't light up or be detected by INPA, it was over half a year ago think they would still do something about it? I just used an amazon cable which worked fine

BTW hass could you check up on the custom stuff? been a really long time since I've heard from youj

I think there might also be some car that came with the newer GM transmission and it's different TCM that also could have come with the 3 stage manifold making the 255hp, that would be great to get a zb from to be able to to flash newer 328s too.

If there aren't any software differences between say an x3 3.0si and a 330i, then what is the difference? 5hp isn't much but it's probably more than a silicone intake boot. I haven't noticed any differences except that the suvs use a completely different airbox that is similar to the m54 engines. Also seem to have a longer track from the throttle to the airbox. I could have a look at it since there is one at my local junkyard.

Or maybe I could just stick these to my car and make up the difference

Send them a message, I'm sure they'll take care of you. I still think there's a firmware issue with the latest cables but I haven't had a chance to investigate yet. Maybe I'll do that this week.

can you PM me your email address?

There are software differences on the si tunes. It's actually about 10hp more, but usually the cars are way bigger (X3 and X5). I actually have an F25 X3 with the N52, I think it's 265hp, but the thing is just so big & heavy it doesn't really feel like it, lol.

I doubt that small difference in the airbox makes 10hp, but maybe. Internally for sure, the engines are identical, even my F25. I haven't looked at MSV90 yet (I have the damos for it) but I'm curious what the tuning differences are. My gut feeling is it's mostly the same, just updated to work on the newer platforms & with tighter emissions requirements.

Would 5A Ctec charger be enough for ECU flash?

you really don't need a charger to flash the DME. but if you want to use one, yes I'm sure it will work fine.

So the tune for the SI msv80 cars is different and indeed higher power? I thought the x3 3.0si e83 was 260. The 272hp numbers some people have thrown around I'm pretty sure are N53 engines so I'm interested in seeing what you find in your X3's dme as that's pretty much one of the latest cars they seem to have used the N52 in.

What would happen if I were to try and flash a ZB from an x3 3.0si or Z4 3.0si on my car? Either way I need to get a custom tune for the headers

yeah, 272 is for the N53. 265 is what the si engines were rated at. it's only 10hp over the 330i - it's basically the same thing you get with a slightly modified tune.

If you did that the car probably wouldn't start. Z4 & X3 use different CAN and EWS.

Cruise Control

I tried reading through the 22 pages here but couldn't find an answer. On the first page e92william mentioned he lost cruise control after flashing the mafless tune. Is that a known issue with the tune, or was there something else that caused that?

Not sure what the discrepancy is, but I still have retained CC for both the MAF/noMAF flashes. 2011 E90 328i LCI

I have never been able to replicate it. I've studied all of the cruise control calibrations, and there's no difference that I can tell in the DME. It could be a coding issue, but since i can't replicate it I have no way to figure out the problem.
