No.....the thing is with a sponge.... as you wash your car the dirt stays on the surface of the sponge and you are essentially sanding your car. With the lambs wool mit the dirt gets pulled into the nap of the wool and away from the surface away from your paint...

The "Science" is simple...keep as much dirt away from your paint as possible when you are washing.

Keep the sponge for the wheels....

You find stuff to do, I usually go through the Financial Times in the morning, then read magazines / white papers in the afternoon. I'm in IT like you, so there's always some implementation / admin's manual du jour that's 200+ pages to read.

It's just about managing time, but you get used to it. Eventually I'll either move closer to the city or just find a jobby job in Greenwich / Stamford.

2hrs each way....that's brutal. How are you 2hrs each way to the city? I leave my house at 6:45, I'm on a 7:00 bus and at my desk by 8. You are closer to the city than I....

Yeah well I fly a lot, and back in Finland used to take the intercity trains all the time for business trips in the country and to meet friends at weekends (didn't own a car there). I am pretty good in doing stuff in there to keep myself occupied. And actually just enjoying the moments alone and quiet. But I can't see myself doing it daily...

The first couple of months are killer, you just have to cut back, then once you start to get used to things...slowly work your way back up.

Funny how I used to say that very same thing when I had a 5-minute walk to work for almost 2 years

You just don't know what you can do until you try, right?

I live in Long Island and work in Staten Island. Its only 41 miles but the traffic on the belt is usually bad for about 8 miles. but the southern state is clear 90 percent of the time. its when i get on the belt that the traffic begins and end 8 miles later.

It was a joke because you said you can keep yourself occupied and that you travel a lot on the train and fly a lot.

True. None of my friends understand how I could handle the amount of flying or the long flights. It was funny last summer when we went to Bulgaria for vacation with a group of friends. They were all worried about the 3+ hour flight and packed up a lot of stuff to keep them occupied during the flight. I had only my handbag as carry on, just enjoyed not having to carry my laptop. When you are used to flying monthly (if not more often) from Finland to US, when there's always one short European connection and then the 8-9 hour flight cross the sea, the 3 hour flight was something I didn't really feel like I had to prepare myself into...

OK, maybe someday I will actually start to understand your jokes without having to ask for an explanation

Feel like such a moron sometimes. Not used to not understanding everything at once... I used to be the smart one and definitely not feeling that anymore
