I did downloaded memtest86 but can burn it onto a cd because my work laptop sucks and the only file in the zip file was an iso. Things didn't work the way the website said it was suppose to do.

weird. go in msconfig and disable doggie dash. if that doesn't fix it, it could be a hardware problem. things like that are hard to diagnose and u have to try one thing at a time. was your computer not in a surge protector? have u scanned for viruses? system restore?

try also reseating your memory. if u have more than one memory stick u can try using one at a time to see if any of the sticks are bad. reseat your bios battery? other possible items, bad psu, bad mobo.

also u can put in a xp disk, booting to it, and try repairing windows.

sorry if it sounds like im just throwing out everything, but ya, it could be one of many things.
