They say to do a full detail about every 6 months, once in the spring and once in the fall; it includes clay, polishing and sealing (waxing). I typically wax my car around November (pre winter), March (post winter), June/July (summer) and polish when needed. The polish will remove swirls while taking off a small layer of clear coat, thus the reason for twice per year. Sealing (waxing) will add shine, but claying/polishing will deepen the effect.
