Not disagreeing with you, JDG, but perhaps it doesn't matter.

Our DPF attaches to the "lower in engine bay turbo" which is the large one. I'm betting specs on the 335D large turbo won't watch those of the single turbo 535D itself.

That may be beside the point though. What counts is the flange size, bolt spacing, etc. This is what I call the mechanical interface specification(s) between turbo and DPF. [EDIT: if the N57 DPF is longer or shorter, then all bets are off. Even if front end properly fastens, if the back end doesn't connect right, US 535D guys won't be able to use the Ecotune bypass pipe].

I hope they match so that prospective 535D buyers know that something will be there for them as they approach warranty expiration. Said different, we can hope 535D sales won't be reduced by CBU fears. Buyers are more educated now than when we came on board and might feel less concerned about pulling purchase trigger knowing there are ways to deal with the CBU concern.

The more 6 cylinder diesel sales volume there is for BMW the better they will train their service staff to take care of us. 5 series will help get us closer. X5 never stopping production certainly didn't hurt either.

I called my bmw dealer and they quoted me 4k for extended warranty, I'd rather do the bypass and roll the dice than shell out 4k... boo!

Joe Planet has ECOTUNE stated they will give you credit, so far we have not seen the actual DPF in any pictures maybe Tdi can enlighten us on this. ECOTune went silent on us. And as i see not many people have signed up for the buy list what a shame

I haven't received any updates on what's going on. But I have been pleased with the remap and the delete of the DPF/SCR/EGR.

This is getting to be a long thread and it's been covered many times ... but:

-Ecotune did the remap thru Redline in the US
-I removed the DPF and sent it over to Scotland
-Once it came back I cut open and removed the DPF section leaving the DOC
-Local shop welded back the DPF flap I cut
-I re-installed the DPF (also removed the DEF mixer at the interface)
-I did the hardware modification to completely eliminate the EGR and EGR cooler

Since then I've also eliminated the mufflers and am now straight piped out the back. Removed the clamps I had used for testing the fit and sound and had the pipes permanently welded on yesterday afternoon.

I kinda like having the DOC still in place as it eliminates the non-cat raw diesel smell and also reduces a lot of emissions/particulates without the drawbacks of the DPF...

TDIwyse,

Have you been monitoring the emission ready status on the Torque app. lately? Does it still show not ready or has it clear?

This is the only holding me back from getting the DPF delete because up here they hookup to the obdii for emission testing.

Yes, but unfortunately not all the status conditions are "ready". With that said, I've tried multiple times to do the precise BMW "drive cycle" but haven't succeeded yet. So I can't say with certainty that some of them won't eventually turn to "ready". I just don't know the answer. Sorry.

Can you post the screenshot from the Torque App to show which ones are still "Not-Ready"?

Thanks,

wonder if that is why the down pipe has sort of disappeared as far as progress is concerned. it would be a tough market in the US if 75% of the market cant use it without submitting to a huge pain in the butt every two years

Ok word from WAGNER. I txt Carsten and we spoke our dreaded DPF he will not make a US version DPF. Not enough demand it would at least 30 people to break even and he usually makes 50 at a batch. So Ecotune might be a loss as far as making our dpf. So you guys might as well jump on the ecotune wagon. Im in only is the pipe is sold seperately

Here's a shot I took yesterday when the recent exhaust modifications were permanently welded in. A couple big differences between the pipes are right here: The DEF injection port (we ground off that lip shortly after this pic was taken) and the bolt type interface to the rear exhaust section. I'm also not sure if the euro pipe has the 3 EGT fittings and the NOx sensor in there. And somewhere I thought I read the turbo flange matting was a little different as well...
