If it sucks you gotta fix it... Bad jobs can effect your entire life, quality of life, relationships, everything. You have to find something that works for you.
There's two ways to do it. 1. Find a job that you love doing, look forward to getting to, and makes you happy regardless of the pay. This is what I do, to hell with the suit and tie, I'm wearing a T-shirt and Jeans for 1/2 the money and I couldn't be happier! OR 2. Find a position that pays you so much damn money, that you no longer mind the fact that it's not really what you want to be doing, and you are happy anyway, cause of the compensation package. Either or, but sticking around in a job that makes you unhappy means that just over 50% of your life is spent being unhappy, that's completely screwed... Might as well be in a shitty marriage and ensure that your entire life is in a shambles. Scale back if you have to, but find something that makes you happy, figure out what you really love to do, then do it! Sounds easy and it really is, but you've got to be brave, and have to let go of a lot of the Bullshit trappings probably. Or maybe not, I work in a 30X20 office, with windows that have a good view, I get paid well to do what I love, I've got good equipment and nobody shoots at me anymore... I'd say it's well worth the trade off. I do miss the Lunch and Learns, the Travel, I sometimes miss the respect the Suit and Tie garners, I miss business lunches, and golf.... But, I can wear jeans and a t-shirt from t-shirt hell if I like, I have a couple Captain and Cokes with Lunch, I work a Mile from home, have little or no stress, and I enjoy coming to work. Work-Life balance... Oh and my good view out the window.

My aunt's husband is a taxi driver in Calgary. He owns a $800,000 home and makes no less money than a doctor. Still puzzles me how ...

I would say that although nicely maintained in the US, some US carriers fleet age is scary (Delta for example, old MD-8x's at AA, DC-9s ar NW). I would expect that the majority of future accidents are caused by the humans, not the aircrafts (example would be the Brazilian A320 not long ago doen there, or the one in Thailand)... |
