You know, anyone with a super-tele of any sort should have the 1.4x and 2.0x TC-III. Even if you have to shoot a shot like this manually, they really are high quality and do the trick at increasing focal length. Add in a crop-sensor body, like the 7D MkII and you've quite a bit of reach, even with something like a 300mm.

I have both Series III Canon TCs, plus the two Kenko's, plus the Sigma 2x. And now Sigma has come out with yet another updated 2x for their new 150-600. I'm quite happy with the 120-300 and Sigma 2x TC, but that's still only 600mm. Every mm counts when you're shooting the moon. :-)

600 is plenty to get a good moonshot, at least for the web. Printing huge is another matter, bur I've gotten great results with my naked Tammy.
