what SMTP server are you running?

Are you on Win2k3 running exchange?

well i did another adjustment, didn't test it yet though.....

Exchange 2K, and it keeps locking up, which drops off ISA that everyone has to go thru, and drops DNS so even if I open the firewall . . . It was down again this morning.

Have you checked your system logs?

Running latest service pack?

When it locks up, are you restarting the server or are you just restarting exchange services?

Laura D Hernandez has sent <> a message and teh server can't process it. SMTP is restricted at the firewall to just our external spam filtering service. I have to get with them to see whether that is passing through them, or something is sneaking in some other way.

I have to restart the whole server, which knocks out ISA and DNS also, and all our financial work is done via java on a remote server.

So internal mail is working fine? Can you send within your organization?

That would bypass your external spam filtering service as it doesnt go out the WAN to your spam filter service.

No, the whole server locks up, apparently trying to process this message. I was just about to block her when I find out she is the director of County Emergency Operations, so now I have to get her to tell me just what it is she is sending to us. I suspect she is sending some HE-UGE powerpoint presentation with audio and the whole works. I'm about to block messages at the spam service level, limit to about 30 MB.
