If I would like to run more conservative map than stage 1 for the time being, would running 91 oct map with 93 oct gas accomplish this?

Any downsides doing this beside getting lesser HP & TQ?

Just to reiterate Gary's point, while we sometimes smile at the questions that get repeated frequently, they are a fantastic reminder about how we need to keep working hard and the demand is frankly very flattering -- we're still a small company by most people's definition and work is life for a lot of us. COBB is a family and workforce of friends; we go drag racing together, we know each other by nick-names, people play fetch with Rob's golden Labrador when they need a break from their desk It's a great feeling to know that we are able to help car enthusiasts achieve their goals and that so many more wish we could help them too!

This is exactly correctly. Our 91 octane mapping was tested using 91 octane fuel and runs less boost/load and ignition timing than our 93 octane mapping.

Thanks guys!

Need to ask a very silly question

What spec is our 335i here in South Africa?
Is it EU or US?

And yes i know its not yet available for the '07 335i as of yet but will definately consider when it is

Oh and can Cobb send the unit internationally?

It also mentions that there is no support for the earlier 2007 models according to the FAQ's, does this mean its also not available for the late 2007 models

Cheers

What happens if you flash your car with Cobb accessport then while your car goes to the dealer for service the dealer decides to upgrade the DME then erases the cobb flash ? How do you unmarried the accessport unit and can you use the Cobb accessport to reflash your car again?

For those of lucky to own an AP

...short of checking your website every couple days, will you announce major updates on this forum, or do you have a rough schedule of planned new releases (e.g. on Mondays, etc)?

I believe the marriage association is linked to the VIN so it wouldn't matter.

In the instructions it states you can use a battery charger to ensure the battery doesn't die when flashing. I certainly don't mind spending an extra $50 to be safe.

But what type of battery charger works on our cars (battery)?

My battery is 3 years old and has been used in a climate where it's frequently below -15C. It always starts fine but why would I take a chance for $50?

SennaZ,

We will be posting on these forums. Typically our announcements hit our own forum and public forums, our blog, our Facebook page, Twitter and our product update mailing list.

Check out our links in our signature below if your interested in following along on any of those.

Thanks!

thought of something. some of us here have more than one N54 car. If we were interested in getting the tune for more than one of our cars, why not make the AccessPort capable of flashing more than just one car?

COBB saves on additional H/W, and hopefully some of that savings get passed down to the user as well (as an incentive for buying two or more for the same household).???

or even across cars somehow. say if someone owns an N54 and a mini, or something. i BET it's exactly the same device.

i suppose the challenge is making the accessport flash more than one car securely - maybe it's too hard to do, and the manufacturer would lose out on the hardware profit, so i don't see them being too excited about it.

dude, notice how i said *secure* flashing. maybe there would be a way that THEY could code it for +1 car or something. i.e. you'd mail it in and they would "upgrade" it to 2 cars for $X where X would be less than the price of a new AP. Nothing is impossible - the question is whether it would make financial sense to them.

Is there an intake or turbo back exhaust on the COBB drawing boards for us 335i owners?

by using a encryption key and checksum (maybe MD5) on the individual boot images for the ROM -- that would require both ECUs to be read and image installed on each..

the tool could read out at boot the 2 identifiable ROMs and give the user a selection between the two. that is if the tool has the capability of holding sufficient multiple ROMs images

this would keep the product restricted in a sense.

zeenon53,

Yes, we are planning on providing performance parts in addition to the AccessPORT.

Thanks,
