Replaced my non-sport suspension with sport springs and Bilstein B4 dampers. My stock suspension had 120k km (75k miles) and hadn't failed yet but it felt very "crashy" over bumps. I'm very pleased with the new set up. The sport springs have lowered the ride height by 10mm so far, but I expect it to go lower overtime. The B4s are much more compliant and actually absorb bumps while still retaining a sporty ride. I would describe this as "factory sporty" and is exactly how I want my E90 to ride.
The job was a pain in the ass to say the least. I loosened the front tension strut and wishbone at the subframe and still had to compress the non-sport springs in order to clear the fender. I had to dick around with my crappy spring compressors a lot to get the sport springs on. The secret is to compress the springs with the upper spring plate in place. I had to compress the front springs in two stages - first to get just the strut nut on and then a second time to remove the nut and get the strut mount on. For the rear springs, I had to drop the rear control arm and subsequently wasted a lot of time trying to get the control arm bolt back on. At a minimum, I recommend replacing the strut mounts, upper shock mounts (with Monroe solid rubber mounts) and all four bump stops. My strut mounts were quite worn and all bump stops were damaged. Everything else can be reused if they're in good condition. Non-sport (C5) vs sport (D5) front springs: Non-sport (C4) vs sport (D4) rear springs: Lots of compressing: Front strut mounts were worn: The spring compressors that could: Last edited by The Nightman; 05-13-2018 at 09:14 PM.. |

Yesterday I turned on the "Music" processing on my Logic 7 settings, because Logic 7 is, as I am discovering, freaking awesome.
The day before yesterday, I bought the car! |

Does anyone know whether the pre- or postcat O2 sensors control the air fuel ratio? Just installed catless DPs and I am wondering whether an o2 simulator that is meant to trick DME into thinking rear o2s are sensing lower o2 levels would affect the air/fuel ratio.

I kept the alignment pins on my new strut mounts for installation but deleted them for more mad camber:
If your alignment pins have a 3mm hex then they are very easy to remove. The 3mm socket will most likely strip so just grab the pin straight on with large vise grips and rock them back and forth. The pin will pop out in seconds. |

Yesterday I installed my VRSF catless downpipe on my N55. Destroyed my hands, did it on raceramps lmao. Somehow I suppose when taking apart my engine covers I must have disconnected the vacuum line going from the VC to the boost solenoid.
I fixed that today. fun times. |

Picked up the car after oil gasket and new driver side wheel bearing...
Now im getting a weird rattling noise coming from the engine compartment. Very noticable when engaging clutch in first gear. Was not making this noise before work was done. |

Installed VRSF catless downpipes last weekend and finally got CEL after driving 200 miles. Tonight I installed the VRSF dp fix which simulates post cat o2 signal so you don't get CEL. However, I cleared codes and then checked if any codes remained and I'm still getting a P2097 (Post cat too rich bank 1) and P0041 (swapped bank 1 sensor 2/bank 2 sensor 2) even though I am 95% sure I have both post cat sensors plugged in correctly. Has anyone else had this issue after installing dp fix? Haven't driven yet so maybe CEL wont reappear, but still has the "fuel trim too rich" code right after dp fix install. I do not have JB4, so everything is stock besides downpipes. Any suggestions?

Had my 3SIM installed and ECU tuned finally!
Best mod ever! Fitted a set of Goodyear Eagle Assymmetric 3 tyres. Set all the tyre pressures and lug torques to BMW specs. Very happy. Last edited by scanspeak; 05-20-2018 at 06:45 PM.. |

You have choices; 1) take off the Catless down pipes & sell them & get high flow cats 2) take off the Catless down pipes & sell the & return the car to stock 3) Get tune like MHD or Cobb. If you choose, option 3, make sure you do your research regarding what needs to be updated in terms of parts (coils, plugs & injectors) before you install the tune, or you will likely break things in an attempt to fix things. |

M Sport + conversion is complete! Finally got the bumper and splitters on. Confirmed that all you need are the brake ducts. I re-used my stock fender liners and modified them slightly to clear the mounting bracket for the new ducts. Totally works and saves $100 from buying new liners.
Next up are headers and a tune! Nice! Don't you wish you did it sooners?
