Datalog - 2nd Opinion

I would appreciate if anyone would look at my datalogs from last week. They are on the OTS E30 beta maps. My mods are DCI, FMIC, DPs, stock everything else. Outside air temp was 78 degrees.

I did not see anything unusual except what appeared to be noise in the higher end. ST & LT fuel seemed OK per Cobb's warning. Thank you in advance!!

not to bad, from my experience. how close are you to E30? did you base it on E85 (85% Ethanol) and Pump 91 or 93 being 10%? What was your blend?

Also,

it is best to reset the log lists and add STFT and LTFT bank 1 is fine. I would like to see the TPS, Throttle Position. To ensure you are not getting any throttle closures. you want to see 80.98 all the way from WOT.

it is a bit normal to see timing correction after shift into 4th. Having timing corrections across 3 or less @ 3.38* and lower is ok. Assuming this was a 3rd gear pull into 4th? I would keep an eye on Cyl #4, if it consistent with over 3.38 try swapping the coil to another cyl. and see if it follows, if so get a new coil, if not, it may be a SP. but really you are ok, especially if you had not got any misfires. Just keep an eye. I was getting close to 6* and getting misfires.

Also, if you are good with ATR you can adjust the fuel scaler, but that is out of my comfort zone.

Also here is a good read:

Thank you very much for taking the time to look! It's awesome to have someone else looking.

My blend has been 4 gallons of E85 and 10 gallons of 93. I used a 10% 93 octane factor on one of the online mixture calculators, What channel would you recommend removing, because I'm at the limit as-is. It was a 3rd gear pull into 4th.

your blend is right on.

go to the AP under monitoring. Reset Data Log Lists. Then just add the STFT and LTFT bank 1.

also, you may get better responses with other who are using the E30 MAPs here:

Could you guys take a look at my datalogs?

I'm a new Cobb user. 2010 335i xdrive AT. DCI, just changed sparked plugs last night for first time (26,600 miles), Stage 1 Aggressive ST v. 4.01, Shell 93 gas.

I did 4 pulls in 3rd gear last night. Datalog 8 goes to redline. The others are WOT up to about 5k RPM. Changing the plugs seem to have eliminated most of my timing corrections across multiple cylinders that I was having. I'm most concerned about my AFR. Am I running too lean on turbo spool up at the beginning of WOT or is this normal for my car and modifications? Does the car look happy or is there anything glaring that I should be concerned about? Thanks!

try doing more logs, but this time, carry through to 6400 RPMs and shift through 4th a bit. Log 8 you are hitting max timing for S1 Agg. so that looks good.

Timing corrections are ok with 3 or less cyl. under 3.38. I didn't look at all your logs.

You are getting throttle closures, did you have DTC and DSC on? Make sure that is complete off.

I think your ARFs are ok, there are very similar to my S1 Agg. logs.

please read this before logging again it will help you understand how to log and how to read logs.

I held down DTC for 3 secs and completely disabled it. Just out of curiosity, approximately how fast will I be going if I do 2nd to 3rd gear to redline pull? I've tried just starting in 3rd around 20 mph and going to redline and I get up to about 75 mph I believe.

Thanks and I'll try to post some more logs!

Not really sure on the mph, all depends on mods and conditions.. But no need to do any 2nd gear pulls. Just do 3rd gear from 2400 to 6400.

It appears you should be more than 75, but I don't remember where I was.

As for more logs, I meant more as in do some more, not more than 2-3. Just to clarify.

If you disabled traction, I am curious to see if you still are getting throttle closures.

Holy Throttle Closures

Here are a few more 3rd gear pulls. Sorry I couldn't get quite to redline but the conditions didn't allow for that kind of speed. Anyway, My main concern is repeated throttle closures due to overshooting requested boost. I keep seeing it consistently around 2500 to 2700 rpm. Is this a concern, and if so is there any way to correct this? How do the other parameters look? It still seems like AFR is a bit lean on spool up where it jumps as high as 16 AFR right when I go WOT. It does drop quickly to 12.2 AFR. Again, this is stage 1 aggressive v. 4.01 ST. Thanks guys!

well from this point it is out of my expertise. from what i understand, if your DTC and DSC is completely off, then there are two ways of cleaning up throttle closures. Up the load and or dial back WGDC. that is what my Pro Tuner did for me. but since this is a OTS MAP, you would have to do this under ATR.

have you tried running S1 Sport? try that and see how your logs look.

nice Charge Air Temps, what is the outside air there? at those numbers i would think you are running meth.

and try to get to 6400 RPMs, it is critical that you log max conditions.

ps

if you are running out of road and or the conditions are not allowing you to reach those speeds, then you are not on a safe enough road and or conditions. I would find another place, Be Safe is first rule.

I have not run sport yet but I need to. I also should do some more Stage 0 logs. I really want to run aggressive so hopefully someone else has some more insight. Do you think the rest of my data looked good other than the throttle closures?

yeah, except that fact I can't see over 5k. timing corrections look under control, you are hitting ~15 psi boost, I believe you should be around 9* timing if we saw up to 6500 RPM.

and you don't have to do more than 3 logs, I know its addicting.

I would attached my v401 S1 Agg. logs but I can't because e90 banned me from all the goodies.

out of OTS maps, Stage1 drive is the closest but it still gives more power.

Out of curiosity, why do you ask?

I have the Cobb, but wanted to stay similar to what BMW "warranties" with their tune to be acceptable amounts of boost. I got the Cobb and was all excited about boosting it up. I never had a turbo car so didn't understand, more boost equals more problems. I just want to play safe.

Well... lets not get hasty... ~12 psi is crazy

modify the ECU; no warranty buddy. Regardless how much PSI you put through it. Might as well and enjoy the car Go S1 agg, Just Saying. if you have access to 93 and or 91 with 3 gallons of E85. S1 Sport and Agg. are still very conservative and you are in good hands. take it out for a spin on a nice dry weekend. two days isn't going to hurt your car, go back to S1 Drive, but at least try it.

oh no, I know im not warranties with it. Saying the power pack still keeps warranty, so BMW must think its safe. So I want to go with that. I have used stage 1 agg, I want the car to last me a good number of years and not have to worry about the extra maintinence of changing spark plugs more then normal and intake cleaning. Not saying its not fun, its just not me.

Uploading 2 3rd gear 60-100 runs I did in Mexico

Looks to be pretty spot on to me for a Stage 2+FMIC Aggressive. I'm going to start bumping up the timing a bit in ATR.

Any thoughts?
