My Beemer is a little "too much" car for a 16 year old.....

I know when I was 16, if I had a 375 plus hp car that could run 0-60 in less than 4.7 seconds, I would have gotten into a whole lot of trouble !!...

If he gets a car, he will put up $3200.00 cash/ money. I'll buy him a $10,000 car and put in 50% of the down payment. My son will put up the other 50% of the down payment & the first 6 months insurance. After that, I'll pay the insurance as long as his grades stay above 3.75gpa & he doesn't get any tickets. I know the grade requirement seems harsh, but my son is very, very smart. For him, 3.75 is probably too low of a standard to be honest.

On a side note, the car he does get will be a Honda Civic. Just change the oil & drive......

Too many parents now days just "give" their kids a car and pay for the insurance. Often times, the same parents wonder why that same kid won't wash it, keep the interior clean, and drive responsibly (not get tickets). Duh..... your kid never had to work for it, so of course he/she doesn't take care of it, or really care if they get a ticket because the kid doesn't understand the cause & effect of that ticket related to your new insurance premium. They never had to work for the $$$ to pay the insurance premium.

Sorry about the rant... parents now days..... I'm a teacher by trade.... glad to be off for the summer....

Again, I appreciate the joke. It did make me chuckle...

I’m glad you got the joke. I have a 21 year old and I totally agree with you. I actually took her first car away because she refused to take care of it and meet the expectations we’d laid down. She now has a 6 year old Ford Focus and she is much more responsible...

Oh, I don't blame you.

I was raised by the "old school". We had a 1 acre lot growing up on a lake. However, I mowed the lawn, picked weeds by the grocery bag full (I was paid .50 cents per bag) out of the flower gardens & lawn. I even had a small lawn mowing service where I mowed 3-4 lawns on top of my own. Mind you, lake lots usually have back yards that go "down" to the lake. This means lots of up hills to mow. I even raked weeds out of the lake front area where we swam.

I bought my first BMX bike with cash money for $200.00 at 10 years old when minimum was $3.35/ an hour.

Trust me, I always had the nicest bike in the neighborhood and I always took really good care of it.

Somehow, the idea of "hard work & reaping the rewards of that hard work" has been lost, in today's parenting.

My grandfather always said, "buy the very best you can afford, you'll always be happy with it".

Got my Koni setup installed. Went with the Eibach springs and I'll admit that it's a little softer than I hoped.

Set the Koni fronts to the most aggressive setting and left the rears in the middle. I'm going to drive it for a couple of weeks and see how it goes but I am most likely going to pull the rear shocks out and put them on the most aggressive setting as well. If that doesn't change how I feel I think I'll be moving to Swift springs.

Right now the car drives like it's brand new and I LOVE that. BUT that's also where I am a little let down because it feels just like the 335i sport suspension that came on the car.

I'm actually having the same setup installed on Monday. Now I'm wondering what I should do with the settings for the struts. I'm also installing eibach front and rear sway bars

Got Roundelwerks headers installed (https://roundelwerk.com/products/bmw...ormance-header)! Removing the stock ones was a bitch because the output flange had fused to the exhaust because of a shitload of rust and so much crap had to be torched... But DAMN was it worth it! The car pulls even harder now and the engine response is much better! 100% a necessary mod on the N52s I'll be posting a full review of these soon.

Here's a quick clip I took last night. Proper drive-bys and dyno to come shortly.

Chris @ Strutmonkey sold me the setup and has stated in other threads to let the new parts settle before passing the judgement which is why I said I was going to wait a couple weeks.

I will say that the initial softness in the rear that I felt seems to be tightening up. Took a couple roundabouts at an aggressive pace yesterday on open roads and the car felt good.

I still think I am going to go stiffer on the rear because I am heading to the track on the 10th and would like to avoid any potential understeer. That being said, even on the most aggressive stiffness, this setup is not harsh at all and would be perfectly comfortable on the street from what I am feeling.

If I was you, I'd ask them to be set to the most aggressive setting.

Installed new Xpel headlight protection. Went on pretty smoothly, but had to trim a little. BMW headlights are such a pain in the ass at times.

Trying to figure out why my car is not working. Is there anyone who could help me?
Can't make a thread yet. Will post it here, after that I will make a thread for it.

Bmw e90 m47 not starting
Hey fellas, I got bmw e90 2.0d m57 engine. It does not start unfortunately. I tried to go trough all the fuses and found no 57 blown out, replaced it but nothing seems to happen.

I got a person saying it might be the ecu but I haven't read any codes which might indicate ecu failure. I tried starting it with injectors out and I can see fuel being fed to an engine. Cleaned up the ecu with spirit. It cranks but it does not start.

I would assume if fuel is fed to the engine ecu might be working. Then I connect the diagnostic tool to the car it came up as E60 and with the different vin. Does it need reflashing to correct vin? Got an inpa order and will try to get that connected properly. If that doesn't help. I'm out of options.

I did check the fuses in the box.
Will try and get a fuel pump relay tomorrow.

Questions:
1. If car ecu fails does it supply fuel to the engine?
2. If ecu would be damaged would it crank or supply fuel?
3. If ecu failed would I read that on obd reader?

Update: sprayed some easy start into the engine engines seems too try an start itself. But it does not run and dash is not responding at all. I assume that if this bmw e60 ecu.
The vin of the ecu is not matching to a car.
Could be that ecu is functioning but is not connected to Ews. Dash is on but how ever rev counter and odometer is standing still then the engine is catching.

After trying and starting the car read the same faults as before, how ever I didn't any new fault codes.

Whent to the bmw dealer in the photos is the part numbers he gave me for original ecu that should be in the car from the factory and non of them matches the ecu number which is in the car currently.

PLEASE HELP

Today I flashed MHD Stage 1 on my recently purchased '07 E93 335i. Pretty impressed. Nice improvement over stock and very drivable.

Dropped my E91 328xi off for the oil pan gasket. Mechanic says the valve cover is not leaking but oil pan needs to be done. So, yay! that the valve cover is still good and I knew that the oil pan would need doing - 122k miles. Will be off on a road trip in the Corvette next week so the Gray Ghost will be ready and waiting for DD duty when I return.

Did some custom cluster work on my 335, took 7 hours and was very tricky. FYI your needles will not want to line up properly in the end and your thumbs will be sore. Overall worth the time and effort.

The Eibach front & rear sway bars will give you better cornering ability. Not sure why the above poster went real aggressive in the front but went in the middle in the rear on his Koni's?! If it's a rwd car, would think you'd want it to be the opposite. Idk

I actually thought the same. A little tighter in the rear and middle for the fronts
