And, yes you are over thinking the adverse reaction to modifications. If you want to pursue that thought process, then consider that every single thing that you do in life has the potential to adversely affect another thing. Each time you press the go pedal to the wood, it shortens the life of something; what's your point? Replying in bold letters won't make your point any more valid. BTW, it's "components". |

I'm not sure if you're new to modding, but it's not like I've just invented this, okay? Pushing the pedal to the wood on a stock car is still a stock car. Assume you drive two cars identically. One is running 5psi over stock and a nice coilover setup, the other is stock. Which ones' turbos will go first? Which one will need to replace strut tops and bushings first? Which one's catalytic converter goes first? Which one will need brakes changed first? Which one is more likely to bend a wheel or a control arm on a pothole? Do you seriously not understand this? |

there is no aftermarket shocks only for xi, so you can only go with spring only or coilover. spring is cheaper, but the whole suspension life will shorter than coilover. i do consider coilover and spring only are mods.

ok guys... enough fighting...
i had H&R street performance c/o installed on my 335xi coupe HERE ARE SOME FACTS: 1) i think besides the KW V3, there is no officially approved 335xi coupe c/o kits. the one i used was the same kit as the 328xi coupe. it is currently being approved by H&R according to their technical manager whom i spoke to 2) no you do NOT need to remove the axles 3) regarding corner balancing, and i quote the h&r manager - "if you don't track your car, it is unnessesary to corner balance your car. corner balancing may cause wheel gaps to be noticeably different." 4) c/o ride will usually be firmer... but if you are young and full of energy, it probably won't make a difference 5) i have ~1.3" drop front and .75" rear 6) no i don't live in nyc... i live somewhere called "upstate ny" which 9 out of 10 people don't know about. more at http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=drop+dead |

I thought about it and i might not go with the coilovers. Im not looking to drop my car the way a lot of you guys did. I have the 335xi coupe which sits higher that a stock 335i. So all I want is to lower the car to about the same height as the 335i. So in all your opinions can I just go with a set of springs?

I believe the only XI spring option for the coupe is the '06 330xi springs. **********s has them.

Ok its official. Im more confused that before. Get coilovers...dont get coilovers....springs...maybe they will work....maybe they wont. Why cant some company just design something for e92 xi models. This sucks for us xi guys. We are the redheaded step children.

honestly, i'm toying with the same ideas, but i'm waiting for OEM suspension. the manager at the dealership that i bought the car mentioned that OEM suspension is due in march that's why i'm putting it off. if by then and no OEM, i'm going with KW v3, serveral on e90post are happy with them.

My H&R sport spring ride is not that bad, but could be a little better. I don't really like the that fact the rear sits disproportionally (is a real word?) lower that the front. I'm looking at putting on the KWV3.
A question for this who have the KWV3s. Do you really have to remove the front axle to install them? And why? I installed the H&R springs myself in my home garage and did not need to remove the front axles. Here's a pic of my car before and after H&R install

i know this is prob. going to get me flamed, but hypothetically could you not just install the springs on the front?? I am assuming due to spring rates etc etc that this is probably not a good idea and will prob. throw the cars handling among other things out of wack , but i just had to ask?? Why can we NOT install the 335i OEM spring on our 335xi fronts??

i get the feeling alot of ppl say 'they wont fit' simply bc they have not tried. How else is it possible that the KW V3s will fit the 335xi AND the 335i, YET the KW V1 or KW V2 will ONLY fit the 335i?? If they are so different what prevents installing them across different platforms??
