Thanks as usual for your detailed report. And also for posting all the manuals. These will be very interesting to review.

The ACM installation certainly seems complicated. I'm personally only interested in the rearview camera, and this seems like a lot of work and expense to get it. Especially since I will have PDC front/rear already. In any case, I'm getting a E90 LCI, and when I saw the ACM cabling and that it connects to the iDrive controller, that pretty much rules out it being directly compatible with the new iDrive system in the E90 LCI. I'm going to have to wait to see how this all works with regards to ACM vs the new iDrive system....

BTW, I've also seen you posting other details in another thread here - also very interesting. (Having trouble finding that thread just now....)

Its a shame the USB ACM option doesn't utilize the existing 6FL USB socket already. The need to route a additional aux cable to the 6FL or Aux audio input in the center console is messy, unless I missed something?

This is why it should work on US vehicles

The interfaces to the ACM are as follows:
1. LVDS interface between CCC and CID - This is the same for US vehicles
2. CAN interface to the CON i-drive knob - I can't 100% say this is the same, but the chances are very slim that this is different. Only these CAN messages are used
(a) Speed signal - not necessary anyway
(b) Menu button
(c) CON movements
(d) Select audio source from ACM to CCC

3. Audio input to the CCC (Aux-in) - This is the same for US vehicles

If you want to find out, contact the guy on E-Bay selling the unit from the US. He would be able to give you references in the US.

I am reviving this thread because I want to install the ACM module for my car which is a facelifted car with the new iDrive. Does anyone know anything about an ACM module for the new CIC iDrive ?

I am interested not so much in the ACM, but I definately would love to add the backup camera to my LCI E90 US-spec with i-Drive!
