I know in the case of my cars, they install the Sirius radio antenna at the VPC. I think they do the clear coat, too, and I read on the Hudson Leader thread of a guy waiting for a spoiler install at the VPC.

It is up to the captain, or staff on the bridge, to remember to report in their weather observations. Some ship personnel are good about it, some NEVER do it. It is hit or miss.

Since it's the same ship, I'm guessing personnel that used to report is the same. It'd be great to txt message those guys: "Turn in your freaking weather reports!!"

Some day there will be M vessels

Hal Mueller, the man who developed the sailwx web site (note: a free web site we rely on so much and is so great when ships do report ), replied to a thread I was on a couple weeks ago. Here's his reply about the ships and their reporting:

As far as I can tell, sailwx.info has not been down at all in the last few days. Aida's progress on the map is another matter completely: if the ship isn't posting weather reports then I have no information to supply.

I've seen good results when passengers on cruise ships, or customers with freight aboard the vessels, pester the bridge officers or the vessel operator to submit more weather reports--the old saying about squeaky wheels.
-------------------------------------

Again, it is up to the bridge and there are probably a million reasons why or why not a ship's officers make a report. I wish we could email them or track them in a better way, like GPS.

But the FALSTAFF seemed to be pretty diligent to report when it was crossing the Atlantic. Now, it seems to be in some black hole - no reporting on sailwx, no reporting on AIS. It's this lack of knowledge that's a little painful.

When do you think she'll show up on the San Diego AIS report?

They will unload, but the cars will probably just sit on the dock and be transferred to VPC on Monday. If you look at pictures of PH, they have huge parking lots.

I think 3/9. It usually takes six days (sometimes seven) to get from PanCanal to San Diego radar.

That's a nice writeup - I wish I could see the place for myself.

Attached below is a Google Earth pic of Port Hueneme and the VDC. Looks like it's a pretty short drive between the 2.

I guess it doesn't matter now, as WWL changed the schedule back to March 10:

She's reappeared off Baja California! Less than 2 days to port - the end is near.

So has anyone received any estimates on when they'll get to pick up their cars? My CA said there's a good chance I'll get mine this weekend. He said this to me last Saturday.

I live in the Sacramento area; I'm not sure if this is a conservative estimate or not.

My CA informed me last weekend that it takes 7-10 days from VPC to dealership inventory...

My dealership is in Santa Barbara...

Over on the Turandot thread, this vessel arrived on Sunday March 2 and people in California (e.g. rnickum in Roseville) were starting to get their cars on Thursday. Since we are week and a day later than them, I'm still hoping for this weekend...

Good evening everyone. My name is Chris and my E93 should have been on the Falstaff (according to my salesperson and OC). I have been waiting patiently and these threads have been awesome to read - thanks all! I'm a brand spanking new member so I'm still feeling my way around the site. My dealership is in Scottsdale, AZ so I assume that I will take delivery of my vehicle after all of the CA customers. My salesperson told me that my aero kit will be installed at the VPC (along with "installation" of the wind deflector) and the rest of the stuff (illuminated door sills and tint) will be done in Scottsdale. Maybe I'll take delivery by around the 22nd? Do you think I'm being conservative with my estimate?

Oh, and I haven't quite yet figured out how to fill out all of my information (like the "On order:" string) so I show as already owning my vehicle. Oops.
