I don't believe that the stock DP is the reason for the low WHP numbers. The main reason is California's shitty 91 octane piss fuel. I just moved from Miami to Sacramento in July and the difference between the 93 and 91 is day and night. I dynoed my car in Miami on 93 octane before I left Miami (98 degrees 37 humidity). My car had the following parts installed: PTF 93 octane tune, stock turbo, ETS 5" FMIC, ER CP, stock DP and stock exhaust. Running California's 91 octane with the same bolt on's, I have consistently struggled with misfires at low rpm in gears 4,5 & 6. I am currently working on an E50 tune with PTF.

I'm xDrive so I'm tempted to just go stage 1 (labor is about 4 hours stage 1 vs 10 hours stage 2 from what I hear) since I have someone willing to do it for cheap. I'm assuming that if/when I do this, I may end up still wanting more power as my goal is to make about 450 AWHP preferably on pump gas. Snappier ride around town sounds great though. |

Like I said, the only reason I bought a stage 1 in the first place is that the stage 2 was not out yet. Stage 2 is not sluggish around town by any means even on crappy CA gas. If you can afford it I'd go for stage 2. If you get stage 1 you'll be happy but you'll always be wondering how much better it could be if you had gotten stage 2. But I have no idea what the difference would be on x-drive vs RWD. |

You are leaving alot on the table running the Cobb OTS tunes. PTF used to charge $200 for E90post members for their protunes (They may still). The difference between the Cobb OTS and protune is day and night. The protune is very refined, it eliminates all the timing drops (the choppy throttle response, not to mention it increases the boost quite a bit over the OTS tune). The OTS tune in my experience felt very choppy, unrefined, unfinished and underwhelming. The protune felt very refined like the OEM tune with a lot more power. The increase in power and refinement is well worth $200. |

![]() I definitely think long term I'll wind up with the Stage 2 if the power gains are that significant. If I could get a Stage 1 installed before snow fall though that'd be nice. |

I'm fairly certain they still do. It was always part of the plan to get a PTF protune. I was just holding off since I was anticipating a quick transition to a Stage 1 turbo. |
