SCCA STU permits anything upstream of the stock TB so a supercharger isn't out of the question if it can be made to work.

Alternately a race built S54 with stock DME is a possibility or if needed a Motec ECU, modules, custom wiring harness, and tune. The ITB setup wouldn't allow for simple supercharging but I suppose it could be done. I know VAC does it so it's not impossible.

So's a supercharged S65 but it requires some careful bottom end work to use ARP hardware to eliminate the bearing spin problem.

All of it is dependent on analyzing weight versus torque curves. An additional cost is the widebody conversion and custom Forgeline wheels to take advantage of the increased bottom end torque. Can increase track by 2" on each side but that gets even more difficult especially on a sedan, back door and all...

Oh yeah, the trans would have to be replaced with a Samonas dogbox and the diff would have to be upgraded for the higher torque.

And full up race brakes too I guess.

Should be able to get 100hp/liter out of the N52, not seeing why this is difficult. Costly but not difficult.

Guys, this is fun and all, but what does this have to do with the BPC Turbo kit that the OP started this thread about?

Not a damn thing.

Yeah you can make Jam with the engine: http://www.onpointdyno.com/?p=1110 still a good deal of work.

Pete depending on your goals an engine swap might make the most sense. Or buying a car set up(or better suited) for what you want to participate in.

The car has been extensively modified so that the only thing left to do for SCCA STU class is relatively minor stuff like finishing out the cage, some interior gutting, and then addressing the torque curve. Things like changing the front brakes out to four pot calipers, adding safety straps to the axles, changing back to 17" wheels, etc. are some minor things left to do. Engine options exist and range from maybe $20K to $70K so the cost is rather low.

I remember following Sasha's progress when he came out with those long tubes. Ugh, makes me wish he did some work on BMWs!

Keen to understand two things:
- Minimum viable GTM with the turbo kit (i.e.: what we'll be able to buy as a baseline)
- Whether the N54 block experiment works. (great insurance policy)

For those that aren't keen to wade through the forum "noise", do you have an "N52 roadmap/updates" mailing list? If so, feel free to PM me for my email address.

Since you can run any intake manifold on a N52 I was really hoping someone would do a carbon/plastic/fiberglass open manifold (a la e46 CSL) and tune it accordingly.

Seems like that would yield some sexy noises. By far and away the favorite part of my old e46 m :-)

That being said I am excited to see what the n52 to can handle with boost. Exciting times!

The total mod list is several pages, single spaced.

The engine stuff is as follows:

Cradin CI-528 zirconium coated Supersprint headers, wrapped in ThermoTec kevlar. One header now has PLX AFR and EGT sensors installed just ahead of the O2 sensor and a Stack gauge EGT sensor installed just downstream of the manifold on cylinder #6.

Supersprint secondary cat delete pipes are installed and the rest of the exhaust is the BMW PE, for now.

Three stage manifold and Rev Motorsports silicone coupler, AA stage 3 tune, BMW PI, and custom CAI tapped into the BMW Aero bumper.

Setrab oil cooler with BMRS lines and an Improved Racing thermostat with a 2qt Accusump and EPC valve setup.

There's a VAC oil pan baffle customized to fit the pan and held in with welded on tabs.

Custom C&R drop-in radiator with Samco Sport silicone coolant hoses.

And the engine mounts are 75D Shore polyurethane parts from AKG Motorsports. An ATI Super Damper is designed and test fitted, pending fabrication.

I think that's it.
What's AA stage 3 tune? I thought stage 2 was their final version.

Sorry, old terminology for headers with CEL management.
