I'm only 32 and have matured to the point where I don't need to tell people I have 675 hp... you probably have a shmedium shirt that says "got boost?" You can't get it through your head someone would enjoy a lower horsepower car. I'd rather ring out a spec Miata on a track then try to man handle a 4000lb 675hp 335i CONVERTIBLE sorority girls car, but each to their own. |

I could just as easily have put a coupe up there. And again msport vs sport is a couple bumpers. Lci vs pre in a 328 is really nothing. Tail lights? Can't even say headights but you can angel eyes. Again, easy cheap swaps. Interior is the same. Finally, I don't see 400 lbs to be noticable. Doesn't affect my handling due to mods which would bury an msport or m3 for that matter. You could of have my car for 18k 2010 335i e90 m sport, fbo jb4/mhd e6o. 44k miles. M3 hood and m3 bumper.

What do you think the "msport" package is? Its the sport package with different bumpers. Nothing to go wow about. I replaced everything in the package rxcept the seats and the airbag with better aftermarket stuff. I don't see why you put such a premium on it and i don't see why you keep chirping about reliability. The 328i out the factory had 90% of the problems the 335i had. And after the free recal and warranty work is done the reliability is the same. And for $7k you can fix or change anything you like. Fair price on your car maybe $13k and that's being generous. Is your exact combo of options rare? Yes. Does that give it a price premium on the market value? No. My factory option combo is rare too. Doesn't help resale. Options and option packages do very little to resale value. But if you want a specific set of them it just makes it harder to locate. If you value those options the extra 3-4k$ you spent then so be it. But i see oem parts and aftermarket that can be bolted on to do the same thing or better but costing kess after you're done. And it'll never be a classic like a csl or an IS. So there's no point in paying a premium to have thise options in the factory order sheet.

Your welcome. Its really funny. Guy with no posts asks how he did on buying a car. I and several others say he overpaid. He can't admit maybe he did and first goes defensive, then attacks. I point out several cars that are cheaper and that could easily either be made to the same spec or would cost more to begin with. Axiom sees its the same car as his and its me, as well as others, and decides to be the cavalry. Still doesn't change the fact that he
1 overpaid by a few grand 2 its nothing special, just another 328 to any car salesman, especially at a subaru dealership 3 op stated he bought it because 335i were unreliable which is a laugh since 90% of the repairs are in common and the other 10% were fixed free by bmw 4 op didn't ask us first if it was a good deal. Maybe we could have gotten some bargaining power, the car, and kept a couple grand in his pocket 5 op decided to attack the group he joined for help with his car 6 op stated how grown up he was after doing all the above, not realizing i graduated hs before he was born. Yeah, its pretty funny. I dont have anything against 328i or original poster. He just asked for our opinion. Don't ask if you may not like the truth. And don't be a baby snowflake about it if you screwed up. Man up. Its only a couple grand, and only a car. ![]() |

KBB is $16,500 for 2011 328i "M-sport" with 57k miles. That's with deductions for a 6-speed manual , no premium package, and no sunroof. So a fully loaded 2011 328i M-sport auto would be $17,700 retail at a dealer.
My main reason was not to get a "pat on the back" but to share with the real enthusiasts of this brand the somewhat of a unicorn Spec I found for a great price IMHO. I paid $16,700 out the door meaning all dealer fees, taxes, state sales tax (9.75%), and license and registration. In the future when I sell my car it will fetch a nice amount as a rare car in a great color combination through a magazine like Roundel or a dealer like Enthusiast Auto Group. People won't be interested in a 300k mile 15 year old 335i vert with $25k in mods. Again you are trying to prove me wrong with inaccurate facts and making yourself look stupid. Keep trying...I've been on car forums for 15+ years, and wrenching on BMWs since I was 8. I always get a laugh when a guy is proven wrong and becomes a keyboard warrior! Also, it's funny you think I'm a liberal democrat millennial. I'm actually the opposite. I've had a steady 40+ hour a week job since I was 15, paid for my own school, cars (3), housing, and I pack a Walther PPQ 9mm. |

Your car isn't "special". Its not a collector's item. Nor is mine. It may be fairly rare, but so would mine be rare. Much more I would think. In 2008 when i ordered mine, there were 3,000+ new "3" series cars on dealer lots. 2,700 328i, 300 335i. Of the 300, 42 were 335i e93. Of the 42, 2 had 6mt. When i did the kbb on it i put in 2011 328i 6mt 77k miles, msport. Popped out as $13,394. 9.75% state sales tax is nuts. Adding in other fees it comes out to mid $15ks. Depending on condition I could see your price being fair but not a bargain.
I'm not worried about resale. I know I'll probably part out at 500k miles. But I got my value out of it. But your original post was what do you think of the deal. With that ridiculous sales tax,fair. Is it going to hold value? No. Might you find someone willing to pay up a grand or two for 6mt and msprt if you keep it in great shape? Probably. But in 3 years it will be a sub 10k car. 5 years sub 8k. Its not an m3. Anything but an m3 is doomed to be a 5k car after 10 years + of this series. And it still doesn't explain why you attacked me and my car. I didn't say i bought mine as an investment. Its not. Its a tool for work. I expect to get nothing back from it monetarily. I expect to get smiles when I punch the gas, to not be embarrassed showing up to a meeting in it in Palm Beach, to be comfortable in it driving for 8 hours a day sometimes, and to get 500k out of it. Doing the math if I got a new car every 100k I'd expect to loose half a car's value each time. My car was $60k new with financing. That works out to $150k with no big power grins. I spent $80k with the grins so I think I made a pretty good deal too. Next car I do this with will probably be a 4 yr old M4. And so on. When I got the car I had money to burn. 8 years of Obama and layoffs now I don't so I'll be flipping used from now on. Do I think you're a liberal? No. Do I think you acted poorly instead of explaining the full transaction 4 pages ago? Attacking me and my car? Getting defensive? Yes. |
