I've been driving with the red lock on for 2 weeks. No problems at all, and my SA didn't seem overly-concerned with it either. I think you should be fine to drive it...

Well, if they do recode it Carlos at least you can get the speedlimiter sorted with the next remap.

Carlos doesn't read anything. Does it have a lot of pictures? He's into pictures.

Am i likely to lose my map when they just look at it? plug it in and do a fault code read?

Carlos,

You'll not loose your map if they just read the fault code. However if they decide to upgrade your software for any reason, I'm afraid you will be visiting DMS again

They won't do anything in that time. But are more likely to say it has to come back for a longer visit to sort things out, at which time they may have to recode if they replace modules.

Right seen the dealer.

Still not convinced they really know what they are doing but said it came up with a few errors. Want me beast for two whole days just to check things etc

Not even to rectify anything

Annoyed to say the least. Got some other bits that need doing so ill get them all done at the same time!

Don't let them load the new 29.1 software, it logs any remapping and sends the info back to BMW AG so they can decide if work can be carried out under warranty!
So no longer about whether you have a tune friendly dealer.

Talk about ' state'
I thought I'd read elsewhere that manufacturers were unable to adopt a blank boycott of all warranty responsibilities, in the eyes of the law.

They could only reasonably withdraw warranty (on those parts) where 'damage' could be directly attributed to the deviation from the 'standard' spec?

I reckon that with the harder cornering a re-mapped car will be capable of, there is no way the steering column will be covered under warranty. This is not good!!

So was I, and I am disappointed that you give in so quickly.

I was imagining Carlos getting very hot under the collar about the whole situation.

Still going round and round in circles then Carlos?

Oh, the reality of having a modded car is getting very nervy everytime you go into your dealer.
New measures are being taken that put the service guys jobs at risk if they try and screw over BMW UK and/or BMW AG.

Beinhg able to turn a blind eye is getting harder and harder these days, so if they ask if yor car is remapped make sure you deny it!

Ahhh now come on.... You know it is all a bit of fun.

There will be no way that they will weasel out of replacing the steering column if it is seen as necessary.

The worst that is going to happen is that you will have to get your car re-mapped again, but that does not really matter since you have to get it re-done anyway so that the limiter can be lifted this time (as originally promised)

Good luck with it!
