I used to work in claims. The insurance company's job is to limit the amount they pay out to insureds as much as possible. They hate people like us who know the difference between two cars besides the color and number of seats.

The company I worked for literally told me to find 4-5 of the cheapest comparable mileage vehicles (not options) for totaled cars. The company intentionally tries to drag it out so you will give in for a lower amount. Some of my claims took months.

My advice is similar to others here. Get some prices of similar equipped Pilots and show those to the insurance company. If they won't budge threaten with speaking to a lawyer. In those cases the claim usually went to my manager who "settled" it for closer to the amount the insured wanted, since the company would rather avoid dealing with lawyers.

This.

In fact, when dealing with adjusters I typically say, "Like you, I believe lower insurance costs benefit us all. That being said, I'm going to tell you exactly what I expect in this transaction based on indemnifying myself. If that figure/repair isn't agreed to on this call, I will involve an attorney with will drive up your costs exponentially."

It works every time.
