Everyone first off shipping the ECU is normal for any tuner these days unless you want to hack and do a piggyback. Its obvious you guys have this car as a daily driver and we understand your issue being down with a car. All of our exotic clients have multiple rides so they can part with not driving their cars for a few days.
As for UPS or Fed EX loosing ECU, lets just say we get on a daily basis anywhere between 50-70k worth of ECU from Exotic cars daily yes daily nothing ever gets lost, items are full insured so its never a concern. Granted the OBD plug in devices talked about but nothing has yet to surface would be great but what will you guys do when you accidentally crash your ECU or something goes wrong and the car locks you out from your hand held device? BMW has a few curveballs up theire sleeves you will learn in due time Your dealer and BMW will be fully aware of this and talk about warranty denial then. Our method is fooproof if your patient. Our key selling points are: Custom tuning Competitive pricing, were not giving anyone a genric tune for 2k. Options that no other tuner can offer with a direct ECU flash 3 year warranty ( no we dont cover your engines or gearboxes since people abuse cars all over) Retaining factory original files so you never need to go the dealer if you have an issue. Now isnt that more of an issue towing the car, dealer is out loaner vehicles and your car may be down 1-3 days depending on how they treat you. Think about all this. I read lots of issues about other flashes and people complaining and making multiple dealer visit etc. After a while dealers are going to get ticked off and we will have a national issue on our hands. We also know dealers dont treat younger owners too great or even give them loaners in many locations which sucks for all. What about you guys doing cats, downpipes, suspensions and all? Your car will be in the shop for days and this is how 99% of our dealer shops work the tuning through us so you have no extra downtime in between. |

Second, you don't tell people the boost you are running, then no one will buy. Are we supposed to take your word that your tuning is safe? You don't show a dyno with A/F? You basically say the word flash and expect everyone to jump up and down. The reality is that there Sharkedit is just around the corner and you are not competitively priced to them, and with Shark you can do the flashing yourself. I think this forum is a lot smarter than you give us credit for. |

+1, not only are you not providing anywhere near enough info, but your pricing is way off for a flash.. for another 700 you can get dinan with a full warranty...or for several hundred dollars the shark injector flash next month |

Sending ECU's in the mail is how many of the VW, Audi and Porsche tunes work or have worked in the past. (GIAC, APR, Revo, etc.) If you can't live without the car for a few days, there are many other options. If SharkEdit comes out and is better, I'm sure this firm may change things up.
I'm more interested in boost levels, are the posted numbers crank or wheel HP and what the warranty covers. |

I can draft a complaint, oppose a demurrer and argue the merits in less than 15 hours. Maybe I'm just smarter than the rest

I think you will find the best methods for the dealing with this community is to work with us in trying to find the best solution instead of providing excuses.
You have said yourself... It is clear, shipping ECUs is not a perfect solution. Your clientele for the N54 consists of people who don't want the messiness and detectability of a piggyback, yet you expect them to remove their ECU and ship it to you? I dunno. we are not rude we clearly told everyone our market has and always been exotic cars and professional race cars does being honest make us rude? We dont know your market at all or you guys this is a new direction we are trying to feel out. Which is why we joined the forum to feel things out on what you guys want and need. If we made post months back everyone would have thought it was a pipe dream. We waited tested bought 2 cars and then posted at the appropriate time. Our service is being marketed globally with tuner shops rather than direct purchasing. We are not an established mail order company if we net 15% a year in retail sales that is alot.
We never targeted the BMW, Audi or VW retail markets ever in the USA or Europe since the competiton was so strong for years making us shift our focus in an entirely different market alltogether. We wanted to sell this tool with technology to a BMW specific tuner in Europe but arrangments have not been made or met for us to do so yet. Its easier for us to be technology developers than retail salesman and that is how things have been since our inception. We are not soliciting direct sales to anyone We posted to let everyone know whats available as an option since many complaints rise up regarding other products for tuning. Having more options strenghtens the market and product quality for everyone We want to answer questions accordingly We want to hear your feedback good and bad We will not comment or remark on other tuning solutions from other vendors out of goodwill Thanks |

More interesting are the questions related to boost and diagnostic visibility - and what happens to peak boost at/near redline. At least from this amateur's perspective. Ultimately, more marketplace competition = better selection for the customer.
