First - I want to thank Levanime for taking the time to have a look at my DME and errors.

Now for the update:

At Levanime's request I went out to the garage to remove the spark plugs. Just prior I removed the air intake up to the throttle assembly and tried using quick start. The truck galloped a bit but still no start.
The issue was obvious the moment I removed the cover over the coil side and saw cracked coil heads.

5 out of 6 coils have the housings literally blown open. I can only guess that at the time the DME shorted out it caused the coils to blow.

I am ordering 6 new coils and spark plugs. I will update again once installed.

I really appreciate all of you taking the time to weigh in on this.

Update:

Yesterday I replaced all the spark plugs and coils.
The engine started up easily.
I had the AWS DSC error on the display, turned the steering wheel lock to lock and that cleared the error.
I went for a nice drive in my X5!

OP, you don't need to do any of that complicated stuff. While it would be nice if the power class matched, it only affects something because BMW needed a way to prevent people from doing "easy" upgrades, where the only difference between models was minor hardware and software (such as the 330i/328i).

All you need to do is set lc_veh_pow_var_err_dis to 1. That will disable 2FA4 and your car will run normally (barring other issues with water damage or your engine). This isn't something you can DIY easily, but we may be able to help with it. It also depends on you using the software version MI20S, but mostly because that's the one where I know the location of this value.

My son has just bought a e92 323i and has the 2FA4 error. The car starts with no CEL but does feel low on power.
Can someone elaborate on the lc_veh_pow_var_err_dis setting. What is needed to set this to 1

Unforunateley this is kept as the biggest secret of all MSV70-90, MSD 80x.

Really, only a secret to the blind or lazy.

Vehicle Powerclass has been researched to death and cracked.
