Okay, the loaner thing is a good idea, and I imagine that if you go to the dealer where you bought your car, and that also has a Dinan rep, it shouldn't be a problem getting a loaner while the ECU is shipped out. And maybe at the same time I'll have them put in the Dinan S package.

The memo above doesn't concern me in the least bit. It's from BMW to their dealers and seems to be mostly directed to the following idea... "MAKE SURE YOU DON'T F UP THE CAR BEFORE DELIVERY, BECAUSE IT'S AGAINST THE RULES, AND BMW DOESN'T ***KNOW*** ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT WILL OR WON'T HAPPEN WITH DINAN STUFF... MAYBE IT WILL F UP THE CAR, MAYBE IT WON'T... p.s. Dinan and CPO bla bla bla"

most dealers only give loaners if you bought the car from them. In my case, i didn't buy my car from my local dinan dealer. I'll have to check. For $2k, you'd think they'd offer a loaner....

Jesus, that sucks. I didn't buy my car from this dealer. They just need an apointment 2.5 to 3 weeks out so they can plan for it. Sadly it is taking that long for Dinan to get their Sh#t straight. Is your Dinan dealer not at a BMW dealership?

they are but once told me that they'll only provide a loaner if i bought the car there. Told me the same thing a few years ago why i tired to service my 330 there. Def a little weird because they are just turning away business that way. I'll try again once the software is finally released.

And of course BMW doesn't want flashes that don't meet the emissions requirements being used on the car. But, the flash DOES now meet all the emissions requirements. So, yeah.

Thanks though dbtheo...

Sorry for the thread jack, but does Dinan Stage 2 meet emissions in Canada?

nice, dealer said they'd put me in something. They just want to save bmw loaners for their own customers, which makes sense. I'll probably get a crappy rental but that's fine with me. Was also told that they'll work with me on pricing on the flash! Discount baby!

nice news..but bmw performance hardly has anything out for the 3.. hell i had to wait 2-3 months for the performance steering wheel and i was the first non dealer model on national back order #2 overall.. bmw needs to get there stuff out and i have no problem trying some of the stuff out..but what are they supposed to sell..they have no ecu tune now.. they have no brake package fr the 335 yet..they have a crap suspension kit.no intake yet..they have nothing for the 335 e92..so what are they supposed to push.. i thought the new performance 3 catalog was supposed to be out a month ago and nada..it really sucks big time esp since summer is coming to a close.

I just talked to my dealer... they WILL NOT pull the ECU and send it out... aparently they've had some bad experiences with doing that...

Interestingly, he also said that the S package was not available for the xi, just the i in the 335... thoughts on that?

That has to do with suspension components.

He said as much too, I was curious though, as I could have sworn I saw someone on here with an xi that had it on it... I must have been day-dreaming... I think I'll just get the flash when it comes out instead... save some dolla dolla bills.

I was set to get my Dinan Stage2 today, but before they did it the Srvc Mngr called to ask me if I was aware that my warranty would be voided ifi got the upgrade. I was a bit shocked since i made sure before going there that everything would be ok. He said they got a bulletin stating that any engine mods would void the warranty including Dinan. I asked him to look into it and while he did that I called Dinan. They told me he was not readingt it right. The bulletin refers to the CPO program. I asked them to call the dealer and explain it. He said they would but the dealer was not required to sell it to me, they could refuse and i would be out of luck.
Called srvc back and told them what i found out, they were adamant about this bulletin. This all happened around 4:45 today, Friday. Service was supposed to call me after talking to Dinan but they never got back to me, so I dont know if they spooke or not or what the outcome was. I pick up the car tomorrow and I guess that is when I find out. This is the same dealer that told me BMW Said not to do ANY 335s. In reality it was only the 08 year models so i dont know what is going on. He did say he would attach a copy of trhe bulletin to my service slip so i could see it. I will let you guys know what it says when I get back tomorrow. Is anyone aware of a very recent(last day or two) Bulletin about this?

They can't just void it on the spot because you get the flash. They can deny you a BMW warranty claim if there happens to be a problem and if they deem that the damage was caused by whatever performance modification you have on the car. Even if they do this, this is where Dinan's matching 4 year/50k mile warranty comes here.

That was what they said. I realize that they couldnt just void it without reason. I am hoping that the rep from Dinan talked to them, and cleared it up. It would make things a lot easier for future service calls rather than have to do a back and forth if anything happens.

That's funny BMW replaced turbos, wastgates, seals, cams etc(list goes on and on) on Dinan-Flashed car under warranty.

I am not trying to scare anyone away from the upgrade. I want to get it and will, i just wanted to make sure nothing had changed recently. Not being paranoid, just being careful. If the service manager says that he got a bulletin, in most cases you would believe him. In this case he misunderstood or misread that bulletin, but nothing wrong with checking first. I am off to give them a call right now to tell them to go ahead with it.
