I ran out of (straight) road at 305 km/h on the speedo, which should be around 292 km/h GPS, and the needle was still rising, albeit slowly. And yes, I do have a modified speedo (goes until 330 km/h) and tires specced for that speed, and it was in Germany on an unlimited motorway.

Cannot try this right now as my winter tires are limited to 270 km/h, but will give it a go again in spring when catless dps and secondary race cats will be installed. Should be able to hit around 315 km/h on the speedo then.

Are you just guessing?
I was racing my friends E92 M3 some time ago, we were neck and neck right up to top speed. His speedo was showing 315 km/h, my GPS - 290 km/h.

Yes, I'm guessing as I had no way of reading GPS data at that moment. From what I've learned from others, though, the discrepancy between the speedo and real GPS speed is usually smaller than what you indicated (not that I doubt what you're saying). It can actually be adjusted by way of programming the speedo, and when I had mine installed I had it set to a rather slight fast reading.
