Mine came out to $64,100 optioned out the way I would want it. NO WAY!!!! Not worth it at all. These cars should not sell at all. They will sell (somehow), but they shouldn't.

People do have $$$ on this forum and the cars will sell. People willingly accept that prices in general, for the same car 2k10 v. 2k7 are $4100 more. Sure, the dealership now routinely gives $1500 more of a discount, so maybe people easily accept say the same car is $2600 more today than in 2k7.

Personally, imho human nature has to kick in at some point and say hmmm....3 Series has poor resale, is a fun car to drive, headache to own and repair, how about a $22k Hyundai Sonata that also has direct injection but actually starts each and every time, and then another $43k into BAC and GE, instead of losing that $43k to depreciation in 5 years. Seriously--5 years later, rather than having those shares which will grow over time, a person has nothing to show.

if you put 43k in C march 2009, you can buy new Aston-Martin Vantage right now, timing is eveything

Why people comparing buying new car to used car, no offense. One unlucky move on used 911, your high blood pressure my go higher than your car. At least on new 335is 3-strike you got buy-back.

Do you guys think they'll lower the price on it?
But there will be some ppl that will still buy it for bragging rights. Which is sad.

I priced out a 335is coupe at about 56k... decently optioned
57,600 with navi / premium / 19s / bluetooth and assist / and harmon kardon

thats not so bad, i dont need navi and premium or the 19s - but it would be a nice touch

i hate to break the news to you, the forum is one of the last places BMW would market to... when you have a majority of people that down rate the dealer, sleathly try to abuse the warranty coverage afforded to the car owners, and complain about prices for OEM parts and buy aftermarket components that can and do compromise the normal operation of the vehicle, and insist that BMW improve their product to meet their mod standards....

the iS and other cars are planned, developed and marketed to the driver that doesnt care what is neighbor thinks about the looks or the sound of his/her car. The car was built for those who are passionate about the car, for what it is -- without the mods, and all that.. thats why the iS cars were popular in the late 80's and early 90's .. they are a little sportier than their stable mates, but not so much as to scare people off by "too much" of the racey type of stuff.

this is surely not a forum built car... not saying that BMW does not care what is said about their product. i would highly doubt that anyone would say -- "hey maybe we can get a buch of these forum guys to buy something like this..." -- while listening to the debate about 300.00 down pipes

I guess "IS" stands for I'm Stupid. You'd had to be crazy to pay M3 prices for a 335i. $10k for an extra 20hp, BMW must be smoking crack. Wait till 2012 when they get ready to release the new 3-series and I can bet that the 335is price will be drastically reduced.

Yeah that sounds about right. No way in hell would I pay over $60k for a 3 Series coupe, unless its a M3.

Im away from the BMW brand for a spell and all hell brakes loose. What in the F is going on. 70K large for a 3 series. Son of a bit**.
Yes many more options for your 70K. I agree with many on here a slightly used GTR would be the big win over any new Im Stupid. Sorry had to steal that one (Delta 0311)

Thank you!!!

For that price you might as well get a M3 or C63 AMG.

Those people are like my dad's friend. The guy has a 09 335i convertible and didn't even know that the car had turbos. I shit you not the guy told the dealer he wanted a quick convertible and that was it.

You got active cruise and sunshades for that price? I call BS on every single option except I-Drive. No way you have everyoption but I-Drive at that price.

I think the only "needed" option on this type of car is

harmon kardon sound system
bluetooth compatibility (usb maybe)
19" wheels if you so desire
and possible premium, to give you the leather option ..

everything else is gravy .... iDrive and nav are good -- but my driod will do that too.

my 328 E92 was a stripper, and a good one at that -- ZSP sunroof and thats it. nothing else enhances the driving experience, only takes away from it ...

My current car is well equipped, but i rarely use some of the options -- cuz im focused on driving.. nav/bluetooth/assist/alarm/hd radio/sat radio/ usb interface and the list goes on.. but would i go to a lesser equipped car for more fun, hell yeah !! - but then again. i could possibly take out the sat/ usb interface/and alarm modules and see if they work on the new car

Hey Alpine6SPD:

Attached is the cost sheet. Add it up douche. Everything I wanted, which is I guess I should have said, heavily optioned. Why would I lie about it?

This car is only about $3500 more than an identically equipped 335i m-sport. So for $3500 you get tuned n54, and some cosmetic features. Not the best deal, but not the worst. The lease rates are much worse on the 335is, though, and will probably remain that way.

in Canada, if the numbers I've heard are true, 335is coupe will run you $58,800
a base M3 coupe will run you $71,800
I have NO idea what you guys here are smoking if you think $13,000 is small potatoes.
Not to mention the absolute minimum I'd consider for a M3 is a M3 with Mdrive, which here in Canada, puts the car at $73,800
So for me, comparing a base IS at $58,800 to a base M3 with Mdrive at $73,800 is a no-brainer, you save $15,000
(plus, the IS is supposed to be the sportiest of the under-M3 bunch, so all you really need is the engine, the 6spd manual, and the rwd)
