Today my CA said they are installing the power seat modules in 800 vehicles per day with the sold cars being done first. No idea how many are in the queue.

Whole experience has really strained my loyalty to the brand (at least on the car side! - can never say anything negative about my 1200GS )- Bit melodramatic perhaps but after waiting now for 6 months on this car with piss-poor customer feedback on an endless list of excuses of why various people cocked up my order I am all but burnt out. Will be in no rush to repeat the experience!

Well apparently the hold up with my car had nothing to do with seat mechanisms etc. etc. - turns out the car was released from the port the day after arrival (May 7th) and the car transport company has basically mucked up a huge no of orders and has had my car for 2 weeks without delivering!!! Dealer says it should be at dealership by Monday but I'll believe it when I see it.
Here is my dealer's latest response: "JUST SPOKE WITH SHIPPING COMPANY CAR SHOULD BE HERE MONDAY! ITS NOT BMW IT'S THE SHIPPING COMPANY! BMW SWITCHED TO ANOTHER SHIPPING COMPANY NOW EVERYTHING IS BEHIND. I TRULY APOLOGIZE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE". |

Seems a bit odd that certain US import models needed this seat fix whereas mine apparently did not - would have thought that this would have been a fairly universal affair - my dealer got confirmation that mine did not need this and was transferred to road hauler day after port arrival - perhaps a factory specific (328i vs 335i) issue back in Germany? Either way I suspect that the delays effected my transfer as road haulers likely needed volume for trucks regardless - if so then your vehicles could conceivably be moving to Texas at same time.

Also do you know of a good tint for our cars? I am considering F1 Pinnacle 35% Front and 20% Rear (Do you have any suggestions?) The only authorized dealers in the Austin area are Custom Sound and Sunbusters and they are quoting $349 without the moon roof. Is that a good price? |

I'm not sure what a good price is. The last thing I did before I agreed on a price is tell my CA if they threw in tinting I would buy it. She agreed and sent me the following email on the tint details (They are doing 35% on all side windows and 20% on rear window).
The company that does our tinting is D&D and we have a representative here does it. The name of the tinting is from Solar Guard and it is high performance smoke. We only do one kind of tint here. rejects 61% of solar energy and 98% of ultraviolet rays. It has a life time warranty for anything that doesn't look right. It is the same tint we use on our 7 series also and everyone seems to be pleased. Before I got them to agree to tint I did a bit of research and it seems everyone says how great the ceramic tint is these days, but it's expensive. If I were paying for it myself I think I would spend the extra for ceramic. |

Thanks for the input Kootz. I should have asked my CA for free tinting but doubt that they would use ceramic.
I went ahead with F1 Pinnacle 30% all around @ Sunbusters, Austin. $349 including tax. Will post some pics once the 3-5 day treatment period is over. |

OK, so how do you keep from getting a ticket every week? I couldn't stay below 90 in 4th gear... What a car. There really is no comparison between the 335 and my old G35 coupe. Pics tomorrow.

haha you said it. The first day I took a 335d for a test drive, I was doing 85 on a 60mph road!!! I had no clue until I checked the meter and immediately slowed down to permissible limits. Enjoy your car!! Will check your pics tomorrow.
