Sound is perfection. Not too loud at all, its there when you want it, and when crusing and not getting on it, its not there at all. Its exactly what I have wanted since getting the car |

You have to cut off the section 3 from the OEM exhaust and then clamp the Perf exhaust on....Cutting the piping is no easy task, but if you have the car on a lift it makes it so much easier

Yea i think cutting the piping is the hardest part and where to cut it would be the hardest, that is my main concern is where to cut.
The e92 you just have to cut behind the mufflers, but for the E90, you have to cut right before the sec. cats and right after the resonator. |

Exactly. Unless you're experienced in this area and have access to a lift, I would leave it to someone who has more experience.

Not gonna lie, I put the stock tips back on the car because getting the PE tips straight was going to be much more difficult. The stock tips look MUCH better IMO, but man, it took some of the sound away. Whoever says that tips dont change sound is smokin crack. Others have said they noticed stuff and I REALLY notice it, its more subued, the depth is there, but its quiter. Not really sure that I like it. I MIGHT just get some single wall rolled edge tips. Im getting a video later when my roomate gets back. Its there, and when you step on it you notice it, but its a tad too quiet.
If someone is looking for STOCK at cruising (no joke when cruising I dont even hear it now) and some OOMPTH when you romp on it, stock tips on the PE is exactly that. Its just not quite LOUD as I want it. I dont want loud, but man, its not much more then stock right now, haha. |

Here are my vids, hope they work. I cant ever get an embed to work so there will be a link too.
Like I said, at least the tips look better! haha. Its DEEP but just not as loud and poppy...wish I had gotten a before with the PE tips instead of the stock ones. Oh well. Recorded on a flip cam, not sure how well those mics are but its okay. ****my youtube acct is jacked up, took the vids down, I will work on getting them back up later*** Last edited by Dackz; 06-17-2010 at 12:25 AM.. |

Im thinking I will roll like this for 1000 or so miles and see how I like it, if anything I can just have them put the PE tips back on, but better aligned. I do think it changed it though, I feel its quieter and my roomate agreed so Im not nuts at least. |

I watched my video of the PE tips at cold start, and the stock tips, same camera, same angle. Stock tips are a tad deeper, loudness is about the same once at idle. Im guessing it sounds quieter to me now because its deeper, if thats the case, COOL. haha. Id post the vids but you guys dont want to see a 5-6 sec long crank in the start...boy does it make me cringe. Taking car in to the dealer in the AM. I have 3 really long cranks on vid and 2 not good cranks. That should be enoguh to get a new HPFP or at least software update. |

Do you have a few pics of the piping connecting the tips to the mufflers? Did the muffler shop chop most of it installing your tips? Anyone out there chop and move the PE stock tips to allign them, instead of altering the systems hangers? I'm now wondering if that section of piping is going to affect how it sounds as well. |

MthreeMthree, here is the quick snap from my phone.
you can see while the PE muffler has a little nipple sticks out, that is for the vacuum tube from the exhaust valve. pretty much you can leave the tube on to the valve so it will perform like stock, or snug the tube to the nipple like what current i am doing, to do a "golf tee" effect to run true dual.

I tried having an installer mount 3.5 dimisa tips to a Performance exhaust
Although they had great yelP reviews They were bewildered How do you mount the tips to a performance exhaust? Is it difficult? Are instructions the same? Just cut the s pipe and position DT? Please help
