I just go btw maps 1 and 2 mostly. With boost guage trigger set at 8 psi, I only see boost at wot which I feel is far more important than speed. Again, the moment I let off, it's a speedo again. |

Why not use the DTC button for other function as well. Seems excessive having all the cycles in on dash button.
Are the steering wheel buttons(diamond and box) not programmable through CANBus?

Instead of using Speedo or Fuel gauge, surprised no one came up with the way to integrate with the existing electronic information display in the instrument cluster ...

shiv posted a video a few months back showing a digital boost gauge in the center area, the issue was that it wasn't able to update at a quick enough rate

Fuel one is better. Simplicity. The scaling makes perfect sense 20psi max instead of 16psi and it seems to be accurate since when its cold I see one dash under half tank(9psi) and one dash under 3/4 tank when warmed up (14psi). No need for the fuel needle when I already have the nav giving me miles to empty and average mpg the HUD giving me current mpg.

Boom, can they as easily take over the fuel gauge as well if the user decide to use the fuel gauge instead of the speedo?

, but what exactly do they have the patent in. The boost on the dash, or the use of the speedometer to display boost psi?

Props to the idea, but I rather have the speedo and a different gauge either Oil or fuel doing the boost pressure or the center read out.

Speedo is better then some vague Fuel gauge, at least the speedo has scale.
This talk about patents, you have no idea what they are patenting. Maybe they are not just hacking into a patented technology, I.E, the CAN-bus, which is owned by Bosch (who is the REAL pioneer) and requires licensing to use. If they don't have licensing, i would suggest at least looking into that. Equity management co's love going after people like this, and penalties are pretty stiff for after the fact usage. Even as far as court ordered recalls and destruction of products that are not licensed. It's fun walking around SEMA and documenting who a serious discussion needs to be had with in regards to licensing. |

I'd rather see these companies spend their time on finding a way to integrate/hide regular gauges into our cars than use our factory gauges and take away any valuable data. If there was an analog vent gauge that wasn't 250+ bucks I bet it would sell like hotcakes. Keep in mind, I've never had hot cakes and dont know what they are, but you get the point...
I just stuck an LED lit auto meter gauge at the base of my A Pillar so I have an easy to read vaccum/Boost gauge, but I'd love to by a kit that hides it under the ash tray lid.

Profit doesn't matter, fact is, they are broadcasting on the network and using it to control something. That's the issue and why they offer licensing anyway. Someone maybe patenting a licensed product that offers the ability to broadcast across the CAN to an existing display device. Keeping the patent as open as possible is normally the case.
And +1 on having separate gauges, and a recall is needed. And i'll throw this one out for free, either gauge, use the same as your doing, then digitally display the recall with exact boost. that way it takes out the slowness of the digital display, but gives the exact boost recall. rather then having to 'figure' out the scale, etc. |
