DUDE, I'm fully aware that you can get ANY of these parts for cheaper with AFTERMARKET stuff. Thanks for the information But he didnt ask about aftermarket stuff, he was asking about the OEM pricing from the dealer. Yes I agree, aftermarket stuff is cheaper for the most part, but some people want OEM stuff. I appreciate the heads up though

Mine went out at the 65k mark a few weeks ago. I was lucky that it was covered, or it would have cost around $2000 at the BMW dealership

2009 335i  [8.90]
I had a small coolant leakage last week, reason was a crack in the plastic part of the water pump which then had to be replaced. Car has 70k kilometers, 3 years old.

My just failed two days ago. No symptoms at all. The car just went into limp mode. $1,000 and a day later, the car is running fine again. This must be a common problem as the dealer had the part in stock!

My car is an '08 with 125,000 kilometers.

I hope this is the end of the problems. HPFP replaced twice (under warranty). Three injectors replaced (my cost).

So I made this comment the other day, and a few days later, guess what happened? That's right major coolant leak. Funny thing is it was random and big spray that would stop as soon as it started. Local Indy couldn't locate the leak. I was unable to replicate it by driving the car around for hours. yeah I know what a rude rude coincidence! 32K miles here, and out of warranty. Just got the car back after 6 days. Everything ok now, new pump, thermostat and lower hose due to the coupling joints not sealing completely on re-assembly after changing the old pump out. Dealer had part there said they see a string of 335s coming in for leaks every week. This is turning out to be almost as bad as HPFP issue.

Taking the front end off is Way too much work just to change those parts. Bit harder on the XI models to use the "slip n slide" technique but it shouldn't take more than 2 hours max.

Damn wish this was more like the e36... $200 stewart pump, new belts and thermostat while you're at it -- 300 bucks, you're done in 2 hours.

The pump just failed on my 09 X5 at 55k miles. No warning. Left my wife stranded in traffic during rush hour.

Small follow-up that may be of interest:

I still had a coolant leak in spite of the replacement of the water pump (although there clearly was a fissure in the latter). Another vist to the garage, and it was revealed that the problem was the small plastic vent screw which is typically unscrewed in order to allow air into the expansion tank, and consequently simplifying the bleeding process if you have to empty the coolant reservoir. This screw is made of cheap black plastic, and if you have to use it more than once or twice (in my case even more often as I had to install and remove an aftermarket aluminium radiator last year), the head of it simply snaps off. As a result, as soon as the water cooling system is pressurized and heated up, coolant spurts out of this unplanned hole.

The part number of that screw is 11537793373. Here's the link to the realoem-diagram: RealOEM - BMW E90 335i radiator expansion tank.

Might be a good idea to replace this screw any time you work on the coolant system.

Mine just went... 82k miles, Niello BMW is doing the repair, $1270 total, crap load for just a pump. Doesn't this seem high?

What is their hourly rate? The pump is around $600-$700 plus labor. That might include diagnosis time as well I assume? They are probably charging you around 4-5hrs labor which is more on the high side.

My pump just went last week also, 58k miles 08 335xi. Had the dealer do the pump-injectors-02 sensor. Thank god was cpo and warrenty untill 100k

Vase330. How are you out of warranty at 32K? I am at 67K, I guess I better pick one up now and do a preventative replacement.
