Ha, after all the bashing here, the guess proof supported by a <20 post member with a pdf not even describing the car with zero detail in the post is enough.
I love the internet.

Hell I have 900+ posts and I don't understand a quarter of the shit that's talked about on here, but that' doesn't keep me from posting... The amounts of post a person has doesn't determine their knowledge base or credibility... Prime example, that Donald -335 guy has like 3.5k posts, but he burned every bridge known to man and cheated, lied and stole from members on this very forum... So your comment about post number is just ridiculous... But I do agree with you that more information would be good for all...

Hey Everyone,
The setup Mike posted is the "back door" to the MEVD172 which is how Dimsport always starts selling a product. Next up you will see them switch to OBDII tuning. Same story, different ECU. I have what is needed to crack the N55, but it's going to take me some time as most of my time is being devoted to N54 tuning. Cheers, Rob |

So this means that Dimsport & others will be able to one day get around the 'flash-proofing' of the BMW ECUs so that tunes can be loading from the OBDII. Question is when!

well with the method shown above, they will try to load some code into the ECU or exploit an existing weakness to open up an access path via ODB2. Problem is that it will take a while to go map this thing out, unless the address and correspoding code is leaked. If they cant, they may just solder an additional access point into the ECU and update that way (like Hondata)

lol right.
Btw I am not anti BMS, I am anti "shit" tunes, if the two are the same, well then I can't help it. If you come out with a proper tune, there will be no anti BMS. I said this multiple times, if Terry comes out with something better than is currently out, Ill buy it, however I dont see that happening |

For those who care, and for those who don't...
As an owner (albeit temporary, as I got my N55 JB3 tune gratis), I have to say the Stage 1 tune for my N55 X5 is good... It's not great, it's not horrible, but good. It provides a nice bump and gets rid of the slight lag that most N55's have... Am I Satisfied, Hell NO... I came from a V4 power 335xi, and I miss that level of power... I am rooting for the Flash tuners at this point, because the Stg 1 tune from BMS, while good, is not good enough for me... I was spoiled by the V4... I am not knocking what was provided... It's a good product, but... Always a But, Until Terry releases Stg 2 (which for the N55 135/335's is probably right around the corner) Tuning the X5/535's is a whole other ball game. According to good authority the programming for the X5/535 N55's is totally different than what the 135/335 crowd has and tuning it will be a lot more difficult... I'm hoping that OE tuning (which seems to be the only ones working on a Flash for the N55 X5 series) proves everyone wrong about being able to flash load the N55 thru the OBD2 port. Fingers crossed... Maybe it takes a week, maybe a month or a year, but the only other tuner I know who is working on the X5 is Shiv and Vishnu... Take it how you want... I'm not a fanboi obviously because I went from a procede to a JB3, but only out of neccessity, not out of loyalty to one or another. If Vishnu comes out with their tune for the X5 before OE, then I'll go back to the procede, and while I proved the JB3 will work on the X5, I will be returning the equipment to it's rightful owner, as I did not pay for it, and only did testing for it. Time will tell what capabilities the Flash tuners will have on the N55 eventually, and I'm sure it will be good for all... Piggy back systems will always have their place, until such a time that the flashes are as good as, or better... But that is the way of technology, always have, always will... /end rant
