Thanks Mike for your input.
Actually we have added cruise control to the car and since then it is asking to update DSC module and hence I asked this question.

For my INPA setup it's:

1. Shift + F8 (for e90)
2. Select 'Functional Jobs' from popup.
3. F3 (User Identification Field - UIF)

There you will see a list of modules with zb number.

Don't try to find your ZB, just click comfort, select MSD group and click done, enter VIN and program.

Hello, I have another problem when trying to update DDE and EGS on mu E90 :
I retrofited CIC on my car, and I can not make update with ISTA/P, but it shows me I have update files for my DDE and EGS, but ISTA/P won't let me update even in EXPERT MODE, I try to disable BO, CIC, ... REPLACE functions, but when I hit Determinate mesures plan, it will place the red dots on these modules again.
So, I try to upgrade via WINKFP, but even I chose ZB, or directly UPDATE ZB, it always shoes me the same number as my DDE ZB already has.

I use ISTA/P 2.52.3 and find update, and WINKFP with 2.53.3 files and shoes me the same ZB, is this correct? Please help!!!

Just choose winkfp comfort mode. Exact same instructions as cryptomit wrote above.

Maybe your ISTA is broken? Are you using an ICOM?

Also, when updating DDE don't forget to also update EKP.

Thank you for your fast answer.
Yes I have an ICOM too, witch I use with ISTA/P, but I used D-CAN interface for updating DDE and EGS with WINKFP. I didn't know that I have to update EKP too. But I will do it tomorrow.

ISTA/P that I use worked for other cars (without CIC retrofit) but on my car ....

I tried exactly as you said : CONFORT Mode, Update ZSub, DDE604, Enter VIN, Done, Upgrade, and always return the same ZB number witch I already have installed on my DDE, EGS.
But when I go to Chose Z-Sub, in DDE604 (for example) I find another bigger number that are over my ZB number. It's that OK?

ISTA P has some problems with retrofit.

If winkfp is telling you the same zb number for update then the module is already latest for your sp-daten.

You cannot just choose a different file as it will be for a different variant. BMW has different power firmware for each DDE etc.

Why do you want to update it anyway?

My map was made by some guy here in Romania, I don't know exactly what he did, but the car was moving good. Now after writing stock file is a big difference. But I prefer little power then to much smoke. And I think that the fuel consumption was very high.

First you need to import all sp-daten files to WINKFP. Files preparation is the important thing first. Then you need to have extra power supply connected to your battery.
After this you are ready to flash your ECU. CAS should be updated without key in slot (ignition off).
If you didn't do it before you should be really careful, its easy to brick module.

You need a cable. If you want to update CAS then k+dcan cable is enough.

You use WINKFP for CAS like for every other modules wit one exception, cas must be updating without key in slot.

And yes, just select comfort CAS. VIN and program and when it recognizes hw version key out.

What do you need to have to use ISTA/P ? And where can I get/download it?

All I want to do is enable the wastegate retrofit option per the attached PDF/SIB.

Page 2, highlighted part says:

Using ISTA/P P32.1 or a more recent version, select "Conversions" and then select "Wastegate valve conversion". Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall the original waste gate operation.

After the "Waste gate valve conversion" has been completed, some waste gate-related noise may be detected.

Can Sensible, or anyone elaborate on the what a different variant and power firmware are?

I went to choose Z-sub and found two other, larger numbers to update my transmission on a 2006 330i. I had used comfort mode, and the update it offered was the same as the current one. I didnt think about it and I chose the largest number listed, and flashed it. There was a big difference in how smooth the tranny shifted, and had a better response to the accelarator.

I kept get a dash light warning, and I didnt know what it was for. I assumed it had something to do with tranny because I chose a zb number winkfp had not suggested. I started worrying about what might happen, and flashed it back to the version it was before. After the flashed it back, I ended up looking up the meaning of the light, and it was for the sunroof initialization, after feeling like an idiot for not looking it up first, I decided to post this to find out what might hapoen, and why I should, or shouldnt go back and update back to the highest zb number. Like I mentioned, there was a big difference in the tranny performance, and I would like to have it back, but I am worried what could happen. Please anyone and everyone let me know what you think. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance, if it wasan't for this forum, I would not have been able to afford to keep this car.
