Cool. I think a lot of us skipped the Supra because we wanted AWD, but are attracted to the BMW because you can get the 3.0 inline 6 with AWD. And as a GVR4 guy I wanted 4 doors, too :-).

u are assuming people wanna do it yourself.

i love how you argue, zero point, but fuck if do you still not continue to think you are right.

sorry, my b7 was fucking terribly unreliable, name an issue i had it in my 160k+ miles of ownership.

turbo (2x)
hpfp (3x)
cam follower (4x)
dv (6x)
driveshafts
random boost leaks
etc

finally the motor started going and i traded the car in. best decision i ever made.

ps look at b8s4s are their td1 drama, much happier being in a 335i

I personally felt more comfortable beating on my upgraded turbo b5 a4 1.8t than my bolt on 335i.
coolant issues, tranny issues, dude the list is out of this fucking world on a b5s4

ps look at b8 s4s and td1 drama. im not going back to audis in the foreseeable future.

Haha, I love you argue, "my anecdotal evidence is greater than your anecdotal evidence, I must be right".

Now, when we look at actual non-partisan source, like say truedelta.com, it becomes much easier to see how wrong you are.

http://www.truedelta.com/BMW-3-Serie...ity-13/vs-A4-7

Successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2008 A4: 40
2008 335: 84

2007 A4: 64
2007 335: 73

There are many reasons I love my 335i over the old A4, reliability is not one that comes to mind early.

PS: No one said anything about the B8S4, you're on the BMW forum now, you don't have to justify your decision here.

If there is anything I noticed with the VW/Audi group is inconsistency. I got guys that swear they are great and reliable. Others will never buy again and have had nightmares with their vehicles, perhaps its the luck of the draw.

My N54 early '07 E92 has never been "unreliable". Even when the HPFP needed replacing, I was still able to drive it to the dealership, and not in limp-mode, either.

I also think things need to be broken out into

2007-2009

2009 - current

It seems that a lot of the pre 2009 vhicles had additonal issues like with Vanos, injectors and coil packs in addition to the ones named with the 2009-Current.

2009-Current, it seems like the biggies were HPF, wastegate and now waterpump.
