Anyone?

Also he is trying to charge me a $175 diagnostic fee?

Great I can see where this is going.....

Any help would be great!
Ik Im quoting myself but its just to keep this thread updated.

2 days ago I took my car in for wastegate/turbo warranty and BMW called me today w/ GREATTT news. New turbos, wastegates, accuators ALL under BMWs 8/82k warranty!

Absolutely NO hassle! Even got a new Benz as a loaner.

If anyone is in LA metropotitan area and wants a good dealership/SA to take their car to, PM me.

Good news! I got the same thing a couple weeks ago. Got a nice 528i loaner for the week while the work was being done. Happy to have my car back with nice new and quiet (no rattle) turbos back!

so what's the process of getting this looked at by the dealership?
do you make an appointment and bring the car in to have it checked out.. then leave the car with them and get feedback some time later?
or..
do you just drive by the BMW mechanics section and ask them to take a look real quick? Then when they confirm that it sounds like a tubro/ wastegate rattle..make an appointment to bring it in?

I called and told then I thought I had the notorious waste gate issue. And wanted to get it checked out.
If it ends up being something else besides the turbos then the visit is arounnd 140$ i think.

Then, they came out Told me ya turbos. Make an appointment to drop it off for a couple days. Covered under warrenty.
I know theres some dealerships that will make it alot more painful than mine did. But worked out well for me

here is my experience..
made an appointment and brought the car in today. Told them that i hear the rattle usually associated with waste-gate/ turbo issues. They told me they'll keep the car for the day and test it to see if that's what it is.
Just got a call that it was my turbos.. they will replace both, i should have my car back tomorrow afternoon. No hassle at all.. almost seems like they were not surprised and knew exactly what i was talking about.. which makes me think that this is a pretty common issue with 335i's... Pretty excited about the free fix!

Mine are making the same exact noise so I may take it in to get looked at. My question is what effect on actual performance does this condition cause if any?

I didn't notice any difference in performance after the turbos replacement, but that god awful rattle is gone now. So that's a huge improvement. Maybe they'll stay quiet for another 70k miles.
I also noticed (when I was swapping out my DPs with the stock ones) that one if the turbos had oil around a seal. So maybe there was a slight leak. It's all good now. Next time I'll just have to buy some RBs or something, if I have it that long.
By the way, downpipes do make a difference, as does using a mix of E85, as I've been able to see recently now that I've had the stock pipes on for a few weeks. I'm staying stock for a few weeks because my smog test should be coming up this month or next.
