I did check with my CA and he said that my E93 is listed to be in the VPC with a release date to the truck on 11/4. The delay is a result of the aero package being installed at the VPC. He also mentioned that it can always be earlier and he will check latest status tonight and that the car will be in AZ about 12-13 hours after getting loaded on the truck.
Another question - did anybody of you ask the CA to run a "Port Check" - it's suppose to be a check list generated at the VPC and will list all damage identified such as dings and little scratches etc. They will be repaired before shipping to the dealer but I would like to know about them - any experience or advice?
Thanks Ingobingo

Well, I picked it up this morning and all went pretty much according to plan. The car had 4 miles on it and my now have 6 (5.5?). It's short drive to work...

Will post pics later, if I get a chance.

Finally...after waiting a lil over a month and a half, i got to pick up my car last night. I can't believe it only took 3-4 days for my car to get off this boat and arrive at the dealership, but hey I can't complain. I'll try to post pics this weekend once i get the car detailed. Feels good to be the first 08 to drive off the lot. I also had 4 miles on my car.

MWTPDE - Have you heard from your CA? I suspect our vehicles will be sharing a ride up to Seattle, and I am hoping to get to the port of Tacoma by Friday.

Hey Herr SFTIR, I haven't heard anything from my CA yet. I have an e-mail into him so I was hoping to hear something later today. I am excited to see people are receiving their cars already, but I am not sure how sold cars are prioritized through VPC and then how they are staged for truck delivery to the dealer. Given there are 4000+ cars on the ship and VPC can process 400 +/- cars per work day, the VPC experience might take up to 2 weeks.

I suspect you are right, if your car emerges from VPC in the same general time frame as mine, we will probably share a truck ride to Tacoma. Then your dealer probably has a deal with one of the Alaska freight shippers (Tote Marine is real popular and they have regular steamship sailings out of the Port of Tacoma to Anchorage). I was thinking best case, our cars arrive in Tacoma this weekend, but more realistically it will be next week. If I hear something from my CA I will certainly let you know! Does your CA have any info?

Your CA has a printed list with the schedule release date of the car form the VPC to the carrier (truck) as well as an scheduled delivery date.
I also heard from several BMW owners that BMW typically deliver earlier (about two days) than scheduled.
Last - all our cars are sold already thus priority one. These cars are first to be processed and delivered.
Car company’s sales statistics are driven by registration date, which is a huge motivation for them to get the car to the dealer and in your hands. Money is secondary because BMW corp did likely already bill the dealer for the car.

Thanks for the reply. A few days ago my CA told me they expect to deliver the vehicle up here in 10 days, which leads me to believe (or rather hope) that it would make the next Tote ship leaving Tacoma this Saturday.

Hopefully you'll get an update from your CA. The whole process makes me feel like a kid again waiting for christmas.

Yes it is amazing how much excitement this event does generate - it proves the saying wrong that money can not buy happiness ;-)
I am driving a 2004 330 cci right now and will trade it in for the E93. Yesterday my battery died and I called my CA. He said that I should come down to the shop and that he is taking care of it (what a service) As I was there in the evening and dropped the key with the service coordinator, my CA did call me over to another corner. He did show me my wheels (one of them) which I did order for the E93 to swap out the sport package ones. Full mounted and balanced 19" BMW Performance Package wheels. I can tell you it was unbelievable - it totally made my day (big time). It gave me a first taste of how exciting it will be to pick up my new car - I can't wait!
Good luck with your delivery I hope it will be on the Tote (what is a tote?) this weekend!

Tote = Totem Ocean Trailer Express

(Major ocean going transport service to Alaska)

19" wheels - excellent. No doubt you'll be ripping up the streets of Tucson soon.

I have 18" sports on my soon-to-arrive 335xi, but have purchased a set of BMW 17" rims for the winter. I won't get to have much spirited driving fun until the snow melts. Oh well....

Snow and BMW are a great combo - I lived five years in Munich before I moved to Tucson (go figure) and the winter time with the rear drive woww - it can be a hack of a ride as long as you do not intend to wrap your car around a street light pole. I did that once with my firs car (VW beetle -20 years old- the car - I was 18)
Lets keep our fingers crossed for a fast delivery - I did hope to get an update from my CV today - didn't call yet

RWD + Long Winters = Fun for awhile but ultimately tiresome = Eventually switch to AWD

Munich -> Tucson = Unusual transposition

HERR FSTIR-I tried calling my CA just now and found out he had the day off today. I will try to catch him tomorrow morning and see what is going on. Any word from your CA in terms of a release from VPC to the carrier?

I agree, this process has been really exciting! It has been a long time to get the car (I put my name on the wait list for an '08 in July!), but I am sure the wait will be worth it! It won't be long now!

I just called my CA and he did not get an update regarding the release of the car to the trucker - well I guess that's it for the weekend.

Well I will try to get something in the morning. My CA knows I am very very excited about my new wheels and he has been very forthcoming with the info, so I will let you know what I find out.

Ingobingo-let us know if your CA gives you a heads up on your VPC status...I would be interested to know.

I got word that my car should be on the boat out of Tacoma this weekend. So I would think your car should be in the greater Puget Sound region very soon, if not already. Hopefully you'll get a phone call soon.

Sure thing - I wonder whether the VPC/trucker connection does work on Saturdays? My CA is a great guy, too. He mentioned he will check the MSRP tonight before he goes home and that the guy responsible for the truck dispatching promised him to give him a call as soon as my car gets in his hands?! The MSRP thing is funny, due to my aero package installed at the VPC, I am told that the add-on's are immediately updated on the MSRP document. My CA does check this status and says that it would be a good indicator that the car was released form the VPC as soon as the AP is listed there? Go figure - I'll update you as soon as I have any news regarding the release or anything else of value.
Cheers Ingobingo

HERR FSTIR-ok now you are really getting me pumped up! I was trying to be patient, but news that your car will be here this weekend is really getting me excited...hopefully not prematurely! Congrats on making it to Tacoma this weekend (hopefully early tomorrow!). I hope my car is in the same batch as yours!

Ingobingo-Good luck on getting the news you are hoping for tonight!

Car is slated for arrival in AK this Tuesday (yes!). It will take a few days for dealer prep and clear bra install.

MWTPDE - I lost my patience about a week after placing the order, and have been preoccupied since (my wife thinks I'm crazy). I notice our cars are quite similar: MB + Alum + Beige vs. Saddle. I am looking forward to seeing MB in real life instead of pictures. Beige or saddle should look beautiful - a very nice contrast with the exterior MB. I had aluminum on my 330 and loved it.

Looking forward to seeing some new car pics from you guys.

HERR FSTIR - I just spoke with my CA this morning and he said my car left VPC two days ago. He thought my car might be arriving at the dealer yet this weekend. So perhaps tomorrow might be the day for delivery.

I think the MB with the light colored interior and aluminum trim will look nice. The light creme colored interior looks really good with the darker exterior colors. I know you will really like it in person! I think the clear bra is going to happen on my car too! The dark exterior colors are a magnet for rock chips, especially where you are at...Anchorage seems to use really course sand for the roads during the winter. Did you work a deal through the dealer for the bra or go to a third party installer on your own? I haven't heard yet how much it costs, so I would be curious to see what you ended up with.

If your vehicle left VPC two days ago, I think it should be in Seattle today. I guess your dealer needs a day for vehicle prep.

Clear bra is offered through the dealer but they have a third party do the install. They're charging me $500-600, which is not completely horrible from reading what others on this forum have paid.
