P1 GERMAN M3 Thank you very much! This car fueled my passion for German cars and taught me how to drive a stick shift. It has been a part of my life for a very long time. In fact, the picture below is of my mother sitting in the car at the 12 hours of Sebring the day she discovered she was pregnant with me. The car has an interesting backstory as well. If anyone has any interest reading about it, it can be found beginning on page 40 of the May/June issue of the MBCA The Star magazine. ( Link: https://issuu.com/mercedes-benz_club...022-04252022-1 )

I concur @P1! Would make for a great photo if it could be blown up.

2012 Ferrari FF Coupe -- a 2+2 AWD V-12-powered car. Here's a couple of photos, including the window sticker, which is good for a laugh.
My favorite is "ventilated power seats for $7,385."

Your 300SL posts are among the best in this thread. A wonderful story and the car is absolutely gorgeous. I've fantasized about Ferraris for many years, but the 300SL Roadster is right up there, too. Would you care to comment on the driving experience?

Thank you all for the kind words. I've been fortunate enough to own over 40 BMWs, Porsches, and Mercedes since 1979 and although the ownership of each have been wonderful experiences, the 300SL transcends all the other cars and is truly a member of the family. Fortunately my wife of 25 years shares my passion for German cars (hence her having an M2 as a DD) and this one in particular. I am lucky to have a partner that approves of, and participates, in my addiction.
For those that may be interested in the "rest of the story" of the 300SL, below is a link to Pt 2 of the article that I linked above. It appeared beginning on page 44 of the Nov/Dec issue of the MBCA The Star magazine and shows a number of current pictures of the car. The magazine's cover shot was staged to replicate the factory photo of the prototype taken in 1956. https://issuu.com/mercedes-benz_club...-december_2022 |

I saw this on my startup page feed yesterday and thought it looked interesting. It's a render of what a reimagined Buick GNX could look like.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure the threaded rod that holds the air cleaner in place is supposed to stay on the outside of the engine. We, and I mean our mechanic had a mishap when getting the tune right on the Mini last week. The upside is, the Mini got a new set of lighter weight pistons. The engine is back together, no damage to the head or valves and is running like a top, when we got there yesterday Matt was just putting the oil in and the old girl fired right up. Should have it home in about a week. Fingers crossed.
And, Lisa has a new paperweight for her desk. |
