I don't have a dedicated sport button. it's either d, ds, or m- all done with the shifter (normal, left, left then forward or down). The newer guys have the sport button.

Hi Jake, sorry to bother you but could you explain which sport mode it is referring to?
the 535i SAT sport button or 335is/Z4 35is DCT button sport button or the steptronic sport mode?

Or... all of them?

- Exposed a second exhaust burble duration slider to differentiate normal and sport modes.
- Fixed exhaust burble very low load jerkiness behavior.
only drove for 5 minutes but seemed to fix the jerkiness. also can you explain the second slider to me as i have a MT 135i so no sport button.
thanks

Same here, but only drove surface streets tonight. Will test on the freeway tomorrow.

I also brought the drive setting to none and put the Sport setting to 1.5s to test. It seemed to work just how I think it was designed to work (nothing extra on normal Drive, but burles on DS, I have no sport button). I'll wait for Marshal or Jake to confirm how the new Sport option is supposed to work, though.

AFAIK sport mode is
- sport button on 1M and DCT trans cars
- DS/M on AT

The regular MT (ie non 1M, non IS) have no sport mode. Not sure on 5 series that have both a AT and sport button.

MMm ok, so anything that sharpens the throttle (ie. torque request % low)

so yeah, lucky steptronic users too hehe

Quick question MHD Tuning my 1M has the M button (sport button) you refer to, however when the linear throttle option is used, the M button does nothing (as I assume the linear throttle is applied to the torque request high and low tables. In this situation, although the throttle mapping isn't changed, will the exhaust crackles still be enabled when the M button is pressed?

Lastly, I'd love to try it, but I cannot see v1.40 of the MHD App? Can I get on the Beta list for it? I was a beta tester for v6, so just assumed I'd have access to it but I don't!!

I can now definitely hear the burbles and around 4K rpm it pops loudly, not gunshot loud but enough to startle pedestrians. This is all on a pre-lci e90 335i with stock dp and catback.
Given this info and the recent updates, I'll have to give this another shot. Did you uninstall/reinstall the app from your Android device or flash back to stock before you noticed a differnece? Or both?

After having some time to tweak, what settings ended up working the best for you so far?

opt in for the beta here
https://play.google.com/apps/testing...hd.flasher.n54
Yes the M button will still make the difference, even if the throttle tables are identical when using LT.

Done, thanks man.

Thanks for confirmation of function, I will test it asap, this is an excellent advancement of the feature IMO.

Bumping to next page.

Just uninstall the app and install the latest version from the playstore. No need to flash back to stock.

At first I didn't believe it would make a difference but another member on another forum had the same exact problem.

If you're on stock dps and pre-lci e90 catback, then you'll have to set aggressiveness to hard and like 3 sec duration.

I'm not sure, is there a way to check? It's an early 2008. Car has recently been "updated" by BMW but they were vague on what exactly they were updating.

Thanks guys!

FYI, the throttle mushyness/loss of pedal still occurs on the upshift. So it must be a different issue..

When i say upshift, i mean in 2nd taking it to 4000rpms, taking foot off pedal, whilst switching to 3rd.. then putting foot back on pedal and no/mushy pedal response

Interesting. As a 6AT owner, I don't have this experience.

That would be because us AT guys don't lift off the gas on an upshift ( so we don't activate the burbles).

If you guys have any ideas on how to gauge the difference with a 5 series sport, I will be happy to provide logs in each setting. Just let me know if that would help and what conditions to log under. I imagine a typical wot 3rd gear wouldn't show the differences. I know the sport button makes the throttle even touchier, disables 6th gear, and holds gears longer. Shifting the trans into sport seems to disable 6th, shifts faster, and when doing both it gives rev matching downshifts.

@MHD I've tested the v1.4 sport mode only crackle feature. It basically works as intended.

Settings:

Normal = 0s
Sport = 1.5s
Agressiveness = Hard

Normal mode, when i rev it up then release the throttle there is one single 'crack' from the exhaust then nothing. It doesn't do this with exhaust crackle feature disabled.

Sport Mode, crackles happen like usual with crackle feature enabled.

It's nice to be able to have reduced crackles when you want them, but they're not totally absent in normal mode, but there is still a single crack/pop from the exhaust when I let off the throttle. I have a valved exhaust so I can shut it and drive normally when not in sport mode and it's 'almost' factory. I definitely prefer this and it's great to be able to sneak around quietly early or late when needed. Great work!

Normal = 0sec.
Sport = 1.5 sec, medium.

In D, it's how it was when stock, with no bucking when letting off on the freeway. In DS, I haven't experienced any bucking on the freeway during my 30mi commute.

I think you guys have found the fix. Thank you all again!

you lift off to shift on a DCT? if so, you must be confusing the hell out of your transmission....
