Sorry to be a bit of an idiot, but when i try and download using a torrent app it is showing no Seeds therefore wont download.

Try asking in the other thread (the users there may be able to seed it or provide alternative links).

I hope someone could help out here as I have tried to follow the procedure and advice thus far, but have come unstuck as the USB port in the glove box does not upload the maps files from the (FAT 32) usb drive.

Does this mean I need to burn the files to DVD('s) ? If so could the car recognise a dual layer DVD?

No it does not work for emulators.

Hi, I just tried it on my 2009 530D which is LCI model I believe. According to my VIN my car is fitted with Navigation System Professional.

1b method just does not work for me. No HEX file is not generated for me.

Do you have a the check mark on the GPS screen.

I do - it shows on top of the "i" on the lower left corner. However, One thing to note is that if I push down on the i-drive button to toggle the mini screen on the upper right on and off, the check mark goes away. See both pictures below on both scenarios.

Update: Tried again this morning on a 3rd USB thumb drive and this time it worked. Working through downloading the maps and will update later on. thanks again for the help.

Ok I finally gave up after the torrent download was estimated to end by early February . So, did some more research and ran into: https://www.codemybimmer.ca/ . All they requested from me in addition to the payment was the last 7 characters of my vehicles VIN. With that they were able to confirm their update would work. I ended up buying their 2021 map update including the FSC code for a mere $39.99 (US). The dealer had quoted me $390 because allegedly the car needed some sort of program update in addition to the map. After I bought through codemybimmer, within an hour I got an email with a link to the download plus instructions. The entire process of installation took about 3.5 hours. I went from a 2009 NA Premium map to a 2021 version on a 2010 E90 (335i) that had never ever been updated. Sweet! Check out the before and after pictures

The vin on the cic is different to the car as its a retrofit.

Yes I tried using the app through CIC vin and 1b file. Both codes normal and lifetime don't work. I think it's because of the retrofit. Maybe it's an emulator or something. It's probably too complicated so il just pay the local go to guy. I got 2017 maps at moment, hel do it around £20. Btw I have connected the car through Dr Gini or FSC tools but I have no idea what to do there either.

“1b.zip” contains the files necessary to pull the 1b file from your car via USB, “bmw_cic_fsc_generator.zip“ contains the FSC generator (a big thanks to user Jaeger and I hope he doesn't mind me using his generator as my preferred choice for generating fsc codes) and “MAPS.zip“ contains different map versions covering the most popular regions (North America, Europe and OZ/New Zealand).

First step: Pull 1b file from your car via usb stick.

1. Unpack the ZIP file (1b.zip) to the root of an empty USB stick
2. Power on your car (ignition on is fine, you don't need to start your car) and wait until the navigation system has started completely
3. Put the USB stick in the USB port in the glove box (do not use the usb port found in the middle console).
4. Wait for around 30 seconds
5. Remove the USB stick from the port in the glove box and put it in your (windows) computer
6. Check if the file 1b.hex is present on the USB stick (if not go to step 2 and try another USB stick). The file should be exactly 319 bytes in size and you can check your file by opening it with a hex editor such as HxD https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/

Second step: Generate your FSC code using Jaeger's FSC generator


1. Unpack the ZIP file (bmw_cic_fsc_generator.zip) in Windows/Mac (after unpacking wait for a couple of seconds for the generator to automatically download the file Lookup.xml")
2. Open the FSC generator by clicking on "BMW_CIC_FSC_Generator.exe" and select the 1b file you pulled from your car as described above.
3. Select desired map type, region and version to generate your code.

Last step: Download desired map version and install on USB stick:

1. Unpack the ZIP file (MAPS.zip) and click on your desired map version (make sure you have a bit torrent client installed) to download it.
2. Put the downloaded map on an empty USB stick (just make sure it has been formatted using fat32).


Plug the usb stick containing your downloaded map version in the glove box of your car and switch your ignition on. After a couple of minutes your CIC will prompt you to update your map version. Just enter your generated code and the update will commence automatically.
That's it, you're done and good to go!

Having trouble, My F31 has an NBT Pro nav andI don't have a USB in the glove box.I tried get the 1b file using the USB in the arm rest, But that hasn't worked. Can anyone help? Looking to get the 1b file to work as reading it i know the genorator wont work on non CIC modles
