I'm sure any discrepancies in speed/power are due to a failing HPFP!! But a friendly challenge is always appreciated.

Nick,

Have any of the dealers updated your software version recently? The new one that came out within the last month has some changes that affect how the fuel pumps work and supposedly resolves many of the failure problems. Not that it will fix your current bad pump, but it should keep the new replacement from failing (in theory).

If you look at Exxon Mobile, only about 27% of users have issues. So, while the data "looks" favourable for Shell, it is by no means conclusive
I'm by no means a statistics expert, but aren't there may other factors that need to be considered here? For example, for those who vote for one gas company, do they exclusively use that one brand without exception? I would assume only a minority would, and in most cases every few tanks may be a different brand depending on where one is when the tank runs low. (I know I do stick with one brand as there Shell station close by my place. If I take a trip I plan to make sure that I can get where I'm going and back with access to some form of "Top Tier" gas ).

Also, did all of the voters buy the car new? If not, there is no way to know what type of gas was used by the previous owner.

It would be interesting to conduct a more detailed study factoring in all of these variables to see if in fact there is a connection to fuel brand, mileage at failure etc. Given that it's not much extra hassle for me to fill up with Shell, I will do so if there is even the slightest chance of it reducing the risk of failure.

This whole thing is BS for sure, and I agree with Nick - you should not have to seek out a certain brand of fuel at the risk of being stranded on the roadside!

Edit: I am also BP fan Anvar, I used only BP in my 330 and still use it mostly for the Fusion

lol - that's the American dream. A 335mr.fusion edition.

Oh and speaking of which, I saw a straight up DeLorean at subway right by my house - I had to give the thumbs up. Back to the Future was like my all time fav movie as a kid.

Nick

lol

Some Pics:
I still want a DeLorean because of this movie. It's such a bad car for so many reasons, but it's just so damn cool! My favorite line is "1.21 gigawatts!!" haha

Well I just finished treating my E92's leather interior. It took a few hours but I could see the results right away. The BMW leather care kit is well worth the $20.

Yeah, this was my first time, so I went over everything real slow and then went back to redo the drivers seat and bolsters. Hopefully I can get it down to 20 mins if I can do it regularly

You can get leather cleaner / conditioner at any auto store (maybe even at Target?). This is just the BMW branded stuff. It's a nice kit that provides applicator sponges and dry wipes.

Hey Martin, I'm thinking about taping up the front of the car for the trip to the Dells this weekend. Would save having to wash it before the meet. Any tips? What brand of tape do you use? How long does it take you?

Painters tape is what MOST people use choose any color you want. Peels off easy and no risk of paint damage. We use with when pull the supentions to prevent that accidental scratch to a fender
