Thank you. Everything I've read so far about the Helix is extremely positive. Gonna buy one ASAP. Will installing a FMIC void my warranty? not only do I have a CPO car, but they also through in a 5 year 100K full BMW warranty for free. and its nice to know I will have brakes, rotors, services etc covered.

I received my Cobb AP yesterday and flashed my car with the stage 1+ aggressive map. No issues, no error codes.


All I have to say is WOW! So far it has exceeded every expectation I had. The gains are VERY noticable. The car is a beast and I really like the aggressive map. And trust me, I dont get impressed easily. I driven or been in some of the fastest cars or boats there are. My brother owned a ruf twin turbo and recently sold his Heffner lambo gallardo that dyno'd at 1135HP. (That car was disturbing)

If anyone is on the fence deciding if they should spend the money on the Cobb AP I'd say absolutely positively YES. I was so close to going with Dinan again, but I'm SO glad I didn't. It's been a long time since I owned my 2002 M3 that I Dinan badged. I know this is gonna sound crazy, But this car seems faster and I didn't have to spend close to 10K on parts!


The only draw back is I keep looking at my speedometer and saying "damn it! I'm doing over 100 again?" The car just wants to keep going. This simple little mod is going to get me in serious trouble. Can't wait for stage 2. :-)

Gonna install the intake today for the hell of it. (Though something tells me i should return it and put the money towards a fmic. )

here is my log, Stage 2+ sport.

Please check my logs. Stage 1+ Aggressive w/ 93 octane Shell. New plugs and injectors. 49xxx mi. Seeing timing correction of -4 on cylinder 4 and -3 on cylinder 6 when I shift into 3rd gear. On a prior pull I saw correction on cylinder 5, so it's not consistently the same cylinder.

If I am seeing sporadic corrections of -3 to -4 on one or two cylinders, and usually different cylinders, am I ok to stay at stage 1+ aggressive?

Technically BMW could try, because it clearly states in the CPO and original Warranty document. Any modifications can void warranty. If your SA is cool an FMIC is really the last thing on their mind. Always uninstall the COBB before any dealer visits.

You ran S1+ with no FMIC? What was your outside Air Temps? I wouldn't do that. Log, always log to be sure. You can still pull timing and not get codes.

Yes Dinan, good quality, but very expensive. Intake is a must keep it. Get your dang FMIC. and go back to S1 Agg. On 93 octane. Till its installed. Your gonna feel a little power drop now, but you want your car happy.

Yeah, you should be perfectly fine running with that. During and immediately post shift the cylinders can be pretty noisey and that makes them a lot more prone to corrections. Since you're clean during the actual pull i wouldn't be to worried about it.

Nah. Overboosting comes from overly aggressive WGDC mapping. Cobb set the tables up with the average users wastegates in mind, some guys just have "tight" wastegates.

Thank you. Now that I am thinking about it, I can't remember if I loaded stage 1 aggressive or S1+. Ill have to go verify ASAP. Good news is its only 37 degrees here and I haven't driven the car much.

I'm hopefully going to buy an FMIC this week. What cost should I expect to pay to have it installed?

Well that's good news! Even more good news is I was actually running stage 1 aggressive 93 and not stage 1+. My buddy just installed my aFe DCI. definitely feels like it runs better and I love the sound as well. He has a 2013 S4 that I got to test drive. Nice car, but it seems that from 60-120, my car has more pull. His seems to have more power off the line. Does that sound about right?

Going to start logging charts in the coming days once the weather clears up. Been raining on and off for days.

With my current setup, what are the overall HP and torque gains? I realize it varies and each car will be different. but that's the first question my friends are asking me. (Besides 0-60 times) And what gains will I see adding FMIC?

I would say a conservative estimate for a tune + intake car is ~50whp/70wtq.

Your ok, 37 is cold. You'll get heat soak eventually, but at those temps you'll have to push it hard. Monitor charge air temps on the COBB, see what you get after a couple pulls. But I am sure in summer it'll be a different story.

I pulled away from a new S4 on the stock tune with full bolt ons from a roll. I would say for sure from a roll

From a standstill the Audi's will always pull since they're 4WD... I did run an S4 the other day with Cobb S2+S and we were pretty dead even (I think he was tuned though).

Today I ran an S6 (Running S1+A) from 30mph and edged him out slightly...

I was wondering because on the Cobb website, it says that I would need an aftermarket intake "Req." Will a K&N filter suffice? I have the DP and FMIC on the way and I would like to run Stg 2+FMIC.

I would Run DCI. Terry @ BMS has em for a great price.

You'll need more surface area at 18.5 psi

A panel filter will suffice. I've ran this setup for more than a year with no issues and great times at the track.
