Hoping someone can help me with this issue. I've recently purchased the AccessPORT for my BMW 335is
The problem I am having is that I have downloaded the APManager.dmg (AccessPORT Manager 2.0) file with no problem. When I double click the file extracts and created the APManager application. I then drag it to the Applications folder, When I click on it to launch the program the icon bounces momentarily but nothing opens. Ive tried to reload the application with no success.
I have followed your instructions to disable the gatekeeper setting so that the application is not blocked by the Mac security.

Still no luck. No answer from Cobb

I have tried the APManager on my Windows machine at work and it functions with no problems connecting to the AP device.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Even I'm smart enough to know somethings ganked up... I switched gas brands ran some fuel cleaner and it felt ok for awhile but good god the logs look awful... Anyone know how I can make the car more happy with Stage 1+FMIC

What are you running for fuel ? I hate to say it but I think that's the worst log I have ever seen .you definitely need octane from somewhere be it e85 ,top tier fuel ,or oct booster something .

93 shell always... Switched to Sunoco to try and see if it would be a difference.

I know you're using 93 octane, but have you tried switching to the Stage 1 +FMIC Sport map to see if timing looks better?

I just received my cobb ap, and uploaded the stage 1 sport map,

I'm curious to see if everything's ok so was wondering if I do some datalogs later today whether someone could take a look for me please, and also what should I be logging?

Sure. Just log the default logging channels during a 3rd gear pull. I recommend giving the car a day or so to adapt after flashing for the very first time. Also, give this thread a read http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696472

Yeah stage 1 sport fmic looks fine and feels fine same with aggressive non fmic those are both a page back. I just can't understand how aggressive fmic would get so bad...

FMIC aggressive runs more timing and boost than stage1 agg. not all 93 is equal unfortunately.

at this point you can add some E85 to clean it up. add like 2 gallons, drive for 5 to 10 mins, then log. It took literally more than 10 minutes for th e5 gallons of E85 that I've added to mix in...

That's a long time. Takes me 1/2 a mile for it to mix in my tank.

So its best to try e85 first?

The only thing I was thinking of doing was going to tischer and getting all new sparks, coils, and possible fuel injectors.

Random thoughts I had today while getting e85.

1) wondering if Cobb will ever make a 89 gas saver map. Would be useful for my long ass roadtrip this summer. If not, would it be possible to detune the stage 0 map on ATR?


2) wondering how far I can push the e85 mix map to see if I can mix in 50-60% e85 with 93. Been tweaking ATR very slowly and carefully. (i'm currently doing 5 gallons of e85 and the rest with 93, car runs amazing)

Spark plugs are a good thing to change. I was getting timing drops on any map when they needed to be changed. Out new plugs in and timing was pristine...

don;t go throwing parts yet though. plugs are cheap. coils are ok. Injectors are expensive and I woudn;t touch them unless they show symptoms of wear (leaky injectors etc..)

I would change plugs... and put some E85. log STFT as well when you add E85.

Is e85 safe to store for a week or two? I'd love to get a couple small containers and keep some on hand so I could just bring a small one with me each time rather having to stick my card in multiple times

My sparks were done at like 43 or 46 and I'm thinking those should probably get changed.

Yeah, try some E85 ... or if you know how to use ATR, you can start with Stage 1 + FMIC Sport and add timing until it knocks and back it down. You'll be somewhere between Sport and Aggressive. I had to decrease timing a little using the OTS e30 map in order to eliminate correction. Unfortunately, the OTS aggressive map is just too aggressive for your car.

Agree, except you don't have to make these car knock to konw you are aggressive. consistent timing pulls on multiple cylinders should tell you to either back down or increase octane (E85)

btw, on my E90 I was able to run OTS E30 without timing pulls.

Hmm. Even when I went to E40, I had to pull a degree of timing at 3500 and 4000 from the OTS map to eliminate timing corrections. Other than that and adjustments to WGDC, my map is almost the same as the OTS E30 map.

Edit: Also, main place to get E85 here is Kroger. I used to fill up with their 93 then E85. I switched to Shell's 93 then going to the Kroger across the street for E85. Kroger's 93 caused tons of timing corrections. Shell's gas seems to be a ton better. Who knows Kroger's quality of e85. It may just be E70.

I have had problems tuning with my mac book pro before with my STi, i'd suggest use windows if you can't get it to work. the last thing you want is for that thing to hang when your flashing.

So is my car basically not even worth upgrading anymore? I mean if I've got a dud that can't even handle Stage1+FMIC is their even a point to upgrading down pipes exc. if I'm going to be constantly bogged down? No way I want to buy Oil coolers, down pipes, exhaust, turbo upgrades if I'm always one step or worse behind.

No, I wouldn't say that. You'll just have to learn to use ATR or get a protune. There is still power to be made with downpipes, exhaust, etc. The OTS maps are more of a starting point. Not all cars are created equally, so it's hard to make a "one size fits all" type of map. Plus fuel quality, altitude, and other factors have to be accounted for.

I thought timing corrections were caused because the knock sensor picked something up?
