I’m guessing you bought a bimmergeeks cable?

No, actually, I'm using one I bought several years ago from ebay. It wasn't one of the super cheap ones, I think it was around $40? Have used it for coding and diags and it's proven to be super reliable, and pretty quick. It won't 'speak' to the transmission module however, so the BG cable would be needed for that.

A quick follow up - I went back and reflashed the MAFless to the DME; night and day difference from stock. And cruise control works.

Super happy! Now I want to get that BMS pedal tuner to improve the throttle response.

Hey guys. not to thread jack; but would the mafless tune do anything on an 06 330? I can tell from browsing the thread this is intended for 328/325 guys retrofitting the manifold but i'd love to flash my buddies 330 with that mafless tune, although if its pointless since its already a 330 then I definitely wouldn't do it lol.

I believe N52B25O1 is the highest power N52B25 variant (160kW). If you want more power you'll have to swap to N52B30.

hassmaschine just asking so there is a definitive answer to this question for when other n51 owners come looking. Please respond.

Will there be an n51 330i tune? Is there anything the n51 community can do to see this happen? I'm happy to start a group buy or something.

Cheers,

Hey lelandbroadhurst1 a lot have compared and say that the mafless tune has better throttle response. I'm keen to try this too, but I have a 130i, which was never sold in the US, and Bimmerlabs don't list the mafless tune for my car. Does it list it for your VIN?

As long as your Daten files have got your current ZB, why not just try the mafless tune and if you don't like it you can change back to your original!

Let me know how you go

what does it look like when you soft brick your dme via batch flashing?

I flashed a stock program via batch and it was OK and successful, but when I tried to flash the stock tune afterwards it was a fatal error. Then another fatal error or two with the stock tune flash.

Then I tried to flash the stock program again and fatal error. Then a different stock program and used the corresponding stock tune and still fatal error.

Is this dme soft bricked or bricked? How would I fix this?

Can't flash rsa delete or stock program anymore

For some reason I can't flash a stock program or flash a rsa delete anymore. I've never had a problem going back to stock and reflashing after smog check and back and forth, but for some reason now I get these errors below:

Not sure why I'm getting these errors and now there is a crank and no start situation due to no tune being flashed because of the rsa delete/program flash due to the fatal error.

What's going on here?

Check your com port settings, Windows has a habit of making unwanted changes.

Check your communications with INPA and be sure your PC and Dcan cable can communicate with your car. Try other modules.

My ports are correct as I’m using port 1 and the obd cable is in port 1. I also made sure the latency was set at 1. Cable works and it successfully connected to INPA and I’m able to read errors and it is communicating with the car.

I’ve triple checked. Same errors.

Could be the cable itself. I've had several that just stopped working for whatever reason.

Just to clarify, the cable communicates with everything else (so it works for other tasks), but just stopped working for batch flashing for whatever reason?

When you say you had several that just stopped working, which cables were those?

I'm having a similar problem to the pictures of the errors above and the pictures of the error in someone else's post in the general forum.

I have a suspicion it's it a cable problem.

the data rate and type of data is different for flashing vs just reading error codes etc. yeah, I have like 3 cables that will read codes just fine, but flashing doesn't work.

Damn that sucks about cables that used to work just stopped working...

This cable I've been using has been working great for 5 or so years and it's not the run of the mill cheap cable, but it isn't the official cable either.

My question is, has anyone's bimmergeek cable all of a sudden stopped working for whatever reason? I mean if it can happen to other cables, why couldn't the same happen with the official cable?

hassmaschine those 3 cables you have that used to work, but now don't flash anymore, but can still read codes, were any of those bimmergeek cables?

huggies what cable are you using?

Yes, my BG cables stopped working a while back. Turned out to be an internal connection inside the plug housing. Simply loose. Took two minutes to fix.

Weird. If it was the cable, wouldn’t it say communication error or something of that nature?

Mine says signature check, security access, authentication, etc.

I’ve seen other people’s error when their cables don’t work, it says like communication error or something of that nature.

no because can still initiate communication with the DME which doesn't take much. but when you're flashing, you're sending a lot of data and it has to be accurate, so any errors and the flash will fail. it's not exactly pass/fail. I've had brand new cables too that worked fine for everything, except flashing..

the security failure is most likely because the flash process wrote corrupted data and it failed the signature check. that's what "security access denied" means.

maybe it's not the cable, I don't know - but I do know I haven't changed anything in the flash files in quite some time, so if you're suddenly having problems, it's gotta be something on your end like the cable, laptop, or software.
