My wife and I have had the car for a little over a year now, and the bumper to bumper warranty has expired. I was looking at the details of the CPO warranty, and it looks like nothing in the suspension is covered. A rattle has developed somewhere in the front right corner of the car while going over small bumps. It sounds like a worn strut bushing or even a worn strut. Is it common for this kind of wear at 60k? I'm going to jack it up and try to find any play in any bushings tomorrow.

Also, my wife's old cooper s had run-flats (they sucked) but the dealer mounted non-rft blizzaks without issue. When I tried to get a set of withere tires mounted to this car's rft wheels, Dunn tire refused to mount non-rft tires on rft wheels. They said it was a safety issue. At this point, this winter has been so mild, I'm glad that they said no since this winter has been so mild. Was this a line of bs to get me to spend more on rft snows? I really want to ditch the rfts because they ride terrible, are noisy and wear fast.

Are there any local meets?

Thanks in advance for any replys
There was a smaller meet in Rochester where the BFLO people drove out, I think we might have good luck teaming up with the ditb people.

..I am certainly OK with the mild winter so far

Dunn Tire said the same thing to me, as well. Not a big deal as the dealership said they'd mount non RFT's for me on OEM rims as did the shop who does all my non-warranty stuff. Order the tires you want and have them mounted by either the dealership or an indy.

A tire shop that doesn't mount the tires you want seems ridiculous to me...You should be able to get anything you want.

As far as the noise its probably a bushing or a control arm. Maybe a control arm link? I had this problem with my 5 series.

The mild winter is great!

we should set up a meet sometime. Except my car is off the road for the winter so ill have to show you guys my beautiful 2001 toyota Corrola with power nothing.

if u need tires go to big d tire south western by the max center or buffalos best bar and grill. i had a mini and if u have an 05 or older mini i have 15in snows brand new a year ago on steels that I have been to lazy to sell. If u go to big D just say mike from dannys said to go there and see if joe is there, he is the owner, they will have no trouble helping you with the non runflats. Not sure y dunn tire made a fus about it, probably because they wanted u to be broke by the time u left with 300 a tire for 4 so 1200 then another 50 for mounting them.

Weather was so nice out the other day, I just had to drive my bimmer.

Anyway, who here is from Rochester or Buffalo? What's your experience with WestHerr? I bought my bimmer from them this past August. Looking through the forums, looks like I need to get the ticking issue fixed with my 3.0si. The salesman told me it was normal. Am I gonna have to fight tooth and nail to get a anything done to my car. I bought it CPO and bought the extended maintenance plan as well. Thanks.

If they already said it was normal you will absolutely have to fight. They only way to really get what you want done is to either be really good friends with one of the mechanics or threaten them by telling them you are going to contact BMW NA about your problem.

Hey JJ, I have worked on a couple other 335s in the area and have seen one with a bad lower ball joint/torn boot. I would get it up in the air and pry around a bit to see if you can locate anything worn.

On the e90 there isnt really any known suspension issues like there are on audis with upper control arms or anything like that really.
Let me know what you uncover

If they're complete a-holes about it, what's the chance of getting it serviced at another BMW dealership? My brother works at at Audi Driver's Village in Syracuse and there's a BMW dealership there as well owned buy the same person who owns the Audi dealership. My brother might be able to get one of the guys there to work on it.

Anyway, it's the middle of winter, I'll look to have them fix it this spring.

Yeah, take it to your other dealership and give that a try. Pretty good chance they will help you out especially if you throw in those facts about your brother. I wish I had a family member that worked for BMW. It would save me so much money.

It helps having a mechanic in the family. He does a lot of stuff for me. He's going to put on my coilovers for me this spring. Good thing there's not much you can do for the 3.0si or we'd be putting in turbo.

And my valuable lesson here learned:

Never say anything about something you do not sell, if a vendor sells it. Yuck.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

The good news is that BMW of Rochester was totally cool. One of the guys here game me the name of the SA who helped him out before. I believe his name was Steve. I called him up, explained to him that I bought the Z4 from them this past August and it has the N52 tick. He said it to bring it on by and I brought it in that day since the roads were dry. To my surprise, I got no resistance in getting it serviced like I've read other people seem to get. 2 days later, they gave me a call and said it was all done. I picked it up and the engine is purring away like it should be without the tick.

I gave it a nice wash (my garage has a drain that empties out into the sewer), made sure all the salt was off it and put the cover back on the car. Back in hibernation mode.

I can't wait to take it out this spring! I know I'm getting H&R coilovers this spring but I'm trying to decide whether or not I should get another season out of the runflats and OEM rims or just get a new set of VMRs with Hankook V12s. If I get everything done all at once, then I'll have nothing to look forward to getting the next year.

Nice shot of your car! Love the fall colors and the angel eyes. I can't wait to autocross too. I've never done anything like it before except for spinning out in empty parking lots. :-)
