I should do the same. This is my first auto, but I am kind of kicking myself now.

Has he spilled out any other information about his new car??

EDIT: Seems weird that I'm speaking to people from the future. Here in HI, it's 5 hours back from CST.

You guys ever think about going here:

http://www.rockfallsraceway.com/schedule.shtml

Import only days.

I've been there a couple times this year, (not with my BMW) seems like a decent 1/4 track.

I would be interested but not sure if my car is fast enough to be enjoyable.

Let me know if and when you would like to catch up to test out the GIAC!

Cheers.

I haven't divulged anything yet Seriously, I haven't made any final decisions. I'm nearly sure about it, but am looking into a couple other options too.

How's it going over in HI? I spent some time on Oahu and Maui back in 2006 and loved it out there!

A lot of Cars & Cafe attendees headed out there last month for a drag day. Don't think anybody from here went along though.

Cool, glad the car is now 'driveable'!

I went to Rockfalls after Cars and Cafe last month. It was fun! I got there kinda late so I didn't run, but it would've been fun. I think you'd get around 6 runs in??? Im not sure...I think the 'club members' get to go to the front of the line, too.

Anyways, It looks pretty fun and I'd definitely like to go there and try it out!

Hey Guys,

I got this link from ajvee. Says that you guys meet up often to talk cars and what not. It'd be great to meet up with some fellow Bimmer enthusiasts. When do you all usually meet? Other than for Cars and Coffee of course.

Thanks

I'm planning to be at Cars and Cafe, and assuming I make it there I will likely head to Imola after.

I will for sure be at the Eurowerks show on the 12th. Also the German Car Fest show is that same day (12th) in the morning.

Hey guys. I'm local and participate in the M3 forum. Just thought I would drop in and say 'hi' given the local connections.

I haven't read this whole thread but there was some talk about going to the track. I was in Brainerd a couple weeks back, here is a link to some of my comments and pics.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...ight=minnesota

I'm also going back up with the PCA later in June. Very fun, strongly encourage you give it a try if you haven't done a DE before.

Do anyone know if either PCA or Nordstern is going to Road America at all this summer? (was there two summers ago and if you like Brainerd, RA absolutely blows it out of the water, much more worth it IMO. Easier on tires too.)

I haven't paid my dues in some time for either club (I need to) and I'm not in loop anymore.

Its great to find out about the e90 e92 Minnesota Forum, The Great Lakes Forum on M3Post is lacking members...

Awesome to see you M3 guys on here to add some extra flavour!

Burton, here is my isse. I absolutely love driving on the track and have grown up doing it. I had a 1300CC track specced suzuki (a beastly 70 hp ) that saw a lot of track duty back in India. Unfortunately, my 135 is my daily driver and I am a little apprehensive about the stresses on the car. I constantly entertain the idea of getting a track specced miata to have some cheap fun.

Do you have any concerns about tracking your M3? I know it is meant to be driven hard, but I am not sure if I could bring myself to do it!

Nord Stern and the local North Star BMW both have events at Road America this Summer. I think the BMW one is Octoberfest. They have calendars of events on their respective websites. I don't think I will make that trip this year. I may be able to squeeze in one more track weekend in the Fall (after the June one). My wife is not digging being stuck with the kids for whole weekends.

My M3 is my daily driver and I'm not overly concerned. I do worry a little about crashing it. Really the track is hard on brakes and tires, both easily replaced. Since BMW has the 50K free service, I'm actually hoping I can get free pads and rotors out of the deal. I figure the car is made for this and I really only plan to go about three times a year.

I think a dedicated track car would be cool, but the M3 is so capable, I just can't resist the urge. Also, I don't plan on being a track junkie so a dedicated car may be overkill.

There was an 135i at the BMW event, seemed like a great car.

My advice, sign up for at least one event at Brainerd. You will start as a novice and you can manage your driving to limit the wear and tear on the car (keep in mind it is not a race, you can go at your own pace). Then you can decide if you want to go back or not.

I have had my M3 to a number of track weekends and two different tracks now and it is my Daily as well. All I can say is that the car is meant to be driven hard (maybe more so with an M3 on a track) but, my advice to you would be, that is if you want to track it, get a set of "cheap" wheels that you don't mind beating up a bit, put whatever tires you like on them, preferebly slicks for the best handling, clear bra the hell out of your car and/or tape it up really well and go have a hell of a time. Just be careful, always drive your car at like 90% and you won't crash. Your not out there to break the track record, its just to have some good fun and to do with the car what it was meant for

It is well worth it. Unless you are really going to get into it, like mulitple weekends or club racing (and can afford it) its not going to be too hard on your car... she likes it.
