Interesting... It then makes even less sense that it is disabled via a button on the remote.

Hold down the Lock Button on the Key Fob while simultaneously holding on the right turn signal and a Blow-Up Doll inflates in the passenger seat! Be sure not to be sitting in the passenger seat while doing this!

1.) When you put car in reverse, with lights on, the halogen lights also light up

2.) When DTC in engaged, you can't use cruise control

Thanks for the info, I'll give this a go next time I get a chance.

What button would I be pressing for this? the lines in a circle, or the lines in a circle with an "A"?

No I'm not a n00b, I just don't play around with anything in the car besides the engine. lol

If you must, here is the easiest way: just press "Auto", then turn the A/C off (extinguish the snow flake on the right) - same as using the heater on a cold day; then set some insanely high temperature on both temp dials (above the ambient). The HVAC will then be using the hot coolant as the source of the heat to be blown your way, thereby cooling the engine down.

I just found out that I had Headlight Washers while I only got the Heated Seats and not the full Cold Weather package.

I think its standard on E92's!

The old BMWUSA website had the headlight washers "inside" the Cold Weather Package. I just went on the site and they have updated it.

Sure it can be done... just connect the two knobs with an elastic band in the favourite colour of your choice. Then when you turn one knob, the other will follow!

The door open indicator only operate when the car starts moving. I think typically over 10 km/h. What were the engineers thinking !!!!!!

So I have children who often leave one door or trunk slightly open.

Only after leaving my driveway into a busy road the gong and indicator shows the door open. The first place where I can pull over to close the door again is almost a km away.

This really suck. Why couldn't they just show the icon on the display when I start the car?

This is the worst feature ever for BMW! What is amazing is that they have not fixed this yet!

Yep, this is one "feature" that we can surely do without.

I don't know which one is more annoying, this or not being able to close the sunroof once you shutdown the engine.

If the "too far" driver's window controls have been corrected on the 2009 E90/91 LCI update, I sure hope for the sake of BMW that these especially annoying "features" are remedied!

BMW, are you listening?!!!

You have to do it real quick, it gives you 15-30 seconds to restart the engine after you take the key fob out.

Dont know what was the reason for this. Give it a try.
Just don't try this if you have a Euro car with stop/start. At the first set of traffic lights the car will stop the engine - but you won't be able to restart it without scrabbling about trying to find the fob and reinsert it into the dash - by which time the lights will have gone red again . Not that I've tried this of course...

I didn't read all 813 posts in this thread, so hopefully this isn't a repeat.

For nav owners (this works for 08, but not sure about other years)...

Enter a destination in your nav and start guidance, turn the monitor off and start on your journey. Whenever the nav needs to tell you a turn is coming up, it turns the monitor back on, but here's the kicker - it brings up a different screen than you normally see when using the nav, and it's pretty cool. It gives you the arrow display on the left (larger) side with a road graphic in the background - even if you had the map view up when you shut the monitor off. It also gives you a few icons at the top, but the controller won't let you get to them. Give it a try!
