Still unable to log my car.
I first went and bought a cheal tablet but didnt change anything. I bought a new org cable today and it doesnt change, it hasnt actually connected at all after trying tor 15 minutes. I pulled the obd2 cable apart and had a look. Nothing was loose and the light still works. It works sometimes but never for very long. Since i got my car going i have reflashed my car sk it worked for atleast 5 minutes then. Now it only seems to connect for 30 secs or so then wont connect for half an hour no matter how many different combinations i try putting cables in and restarting ap and tablet etc. Ill order another obd2 cable tonight and see what happens. Car feels good just cant get any data!!!! |

RB EvoOutlt DIY
Outlet DIY
Things to be removed Always disconnect your battery or things can stuff up and waste time trouble shooting later. I'ts in the boot and you need a 10mm spanner Vacuum tanks, 13mm socket Boost solenoid and bracket,8mm sockets or small torx bit old heat shield, 8mm sockets or small torx bit oem inlet, need allen keys or hex bit in a small ratchet I took the coolant tank out, I'm not sure if you "need" to with non evo outlets but it gives you more room and is easy to remove and install. With the coolant tank be aware there is a thermostat thing hooked in underneath it that just needs half a turn to be removed, dont go yanking it out. Taking all these parts off are quite easy. Going slow 2-3 hours , legend status 1 hour. Drill the two holes I describe below and shown on the last two images before you install anything! otherwise you will install them twice like i did! The hardest bit is probably taking the oem outlet rear off as you dont have much room and it takes a while to loosen the clamp doing 1/4 turns. Need an Allen key I think it's a 4 or 5mm one. The outlet comes in two parts. Put the rear one on first make sure your clamp is clocked so you can get a screwdriver or small socket with extension and ratchet. No lube or anything is needed. The rear pipe needs a bit of persuading to get past the steering column, youll see one of my images showing the outlet installed and the position hard into the corner near the steering rack. There's no room so to create more I tapped the heat shield stuff closer to the wheel well to get another 1-2mm. Pretty much i just pushed form the top and pulled from the bottom until it came down longer then i needed. Pull it down longer then you need so when you bend it onto the snout the outlet has pressure going towards the snout and when its in the right position it pushes itself on, on my setup i had the hose clamp on the outlet up about 70mm from the end just enough so its not caught where you have to bend the silicone outlet pipe. Make sure the outlet is all the way on, its hard to see on the evo setup. Then the rest should take you about an hour if your slow or 15 minutes if your a legend. The front outlet should be put on the turbo first, make sure your clamps are facing so you can do them up. Slip the two outlet pieces together. I have an angled intercooler 2.5 inch and the outlet directly slips on with a fair bit of extra length in my case. I left the clamp on the intercooler, slipped the outlet right down the intercooler so the outlet sat nice and straight where it joins the front and rear outlet. Then tighten the joining hose clamp. After installing the pipes i put some heat protection/cable tie protection around where its close to the steering column. It may have some heat come through where i cut around the steering column, i just had some material off my old oem coolant pipes, Rb now offers these witht he kits. Most important info I can give is how and where to tie the outlet so it stays away from the steering column. The last two images show where I drilled 2 holes. The left cable tie has a hole already there behind the power wire. The one below I drilled The right i used the bottom hole that had a cap in it existing and drilled on above. Hope this helps someone install a bit easier. Main thing is drilling the holes before you install anything, and drill where I did so you dont have to guess. Make sure you have a new drill bit or sharp drill bit the last thing you want is to pushing like f'?k and slipping off. Last edited by Brule; 01-08-2017 at 07:19 AM.. Reason: ad images |

So after trying two obd2 cables and numerous combinations of usb to mini usb etc.
It was my $8 otg cable. I'm back in action! Straight up got my car out logging on a base map buraq made. Sent logs about 9pm last night had a revision by 12 today. I wanted to chuck it on virtual dyno but I have my computer in storage and the app I downloaded off brad barnhill is totally different to the desktop version and only works if it's plugged into the cars obd2 port. U can't drop files into it like virtual dyno on desktop. Car feels so slow, lol not. So stoked to be back in action Last edited by Brule; 02-01-2017 at 05:15 AM.. |

A few logs are on datazap if you want to see what Evos are like.
Username Brule It's only a base map and v1 logs 20 psi and 10 degree advance. Main thing I have noticed is the intake temps are average about 5 f or a couple of degrees cooler all round. I think a few stock turbo guys would be dupe used at the power down load the Evos have. I'm not able to chuck the logs on virtual dyno yet. If anyone has virtual dyno and wants the particulars on my car and temp baro weight tyres etc you can put up a virtual dyno. |

Yep it's fun to drive.
Can't wait to fit all m3 gear and adjust the coilovers. There's been a 2 day monsoon here but I got my car out of storage for a bit of logging anyway. |

Monsoon would be an understatement. 200mm plus in just a few days. I've got a motorbike in the shed that's desperate for some action but I'll be damned if I'm riding in this weather. Bad enough driving the 4x4 around at the moment!!
We need to catchup mate. Mines here now. Rego happens Monday morning so I'm gonna start getting a little serious about bolting some stuff on. Interested to chat about the stuff you've done. Wood |

The m3 bits, sway bars, camber plates, stiffer bushings everywhere are getting done this week and 4 new o2 sensors.
Should be driving it by the wknd. I don't currently have a shed and I'm renovating my house, so I'm paying someone to do it, sad but I wouldn't have time for months. |

Cars in getting sorted over the next few days.
Toe arms are finally being shipped, cost too much $468 delivered. Car is now complete as far as I'm concerned no more spending, except brakes tyres and event entry membership...$$$ |
