Which also doesn't make sense, since I took delivery of the car in Dec of 2009.

The whole thing doesn't make sense then...if you took delivery in dec, your reg is not due till dec of this year? You might want to take a trip to DMV and straighten it out.

Yeah, I paid for my registration in Dec, but I didn't get my tags because the car had to be smogged. The car was 3 years old last Dec.

No its not. That's the new CA rule. Like it or not.

Worst part about it is that they don't actually put it on the dyno or the sniffer. Just do a visual and hook up the OBDII plug. 10 min. K THX BYE

Smog schedule remains the same though, taken from DMV site. The thing that's throwing me off is OP was supposed to have a smog check in 2011 and not 2012...he's a year behind.

"My car is new. Am I still required to get the biennial smog inspection?

Vehicles registered in areas subject to the biennial smog certification program are required to submit evidence of a smog certification every other renewal period. Starting January 1, 2005, owners of vehicles six or less model years old will pay an annual smog abatement fee for the first six registration years instead of being required to provide a biennial smog certification. The registration renewal notice mailed to you by the department will indicate if a smog certification is required. If a smog certification is required and you have not had a smog inspection, you may still pay your registration fees to avoid any late fees. However, you will not receive your new registration or year sticker until the smog information has been received by DMV.

NOTE: Upon initial registration, nonresident, diesel powered vehicles 1998 model year and newer with a Gross Vehicle Weight rating (GVWR) of no more than 14,000 lbs, and specially constructed vehicles 1976 and newer require smog certification. The six or less model years old rule does not apply to these vehicles

Counties that require biennial smog inspections are listed above."

Pretty much what smares said. I haven't received a letter but when I took my car in 2 weeks ago my SA mentioned it. They didn't fix it then because he said they were only getting 50 kits a week.

Mine's going in tomorrow for scheduled maintenance. I've also got the graded corroded tail light wires known on the LCI E90's, causing an insufferable DING every time I use my right blinker. We'll see if the battery cable thing is handled, too.

Squeeking brakes? Damn those things, mine do it to and drives me nuts. what's the fix for the breaks? Nothing worse than pulling up in your supposed luxuy car with the breaks squeeking like hell.

The fix for mine is to make the SA get them changed earlier than when my car says they need to be changed.

Just got my car back from Philip Thearle's; its in perfect condition now. Somehow they got the dents out of the trunk, roof, and hood all with paintless dent removal. Pretty impressive.

np!

if you are talking about parking lot speed brake squeak, it is most likely from the brake sensor.... it never goes away...
