True but for some reason i had the same problem you described and i knew that u had the same Radioshack cable that i had...Changed the cable and i haven't had even a glitch of a problem...It can't hurt...go to best buys and buy the cable if its still doing that, just return it and get refund!! But i know for sure it will solve your loading maps and firmware problem

No problems whatsoever with it. Well except it's only 6' long and kinda need 7 feet...unless I run the cable through the glovebox. |

Yeah i know its annoying and from what u are saying i guess you have the usb into your glovebox, which i had too, but seeing that it was bogging when i went online with the procede and when i upload the firmwares and maps, I decided to buy new cable and reinstall it back into the glovebox with new cable PITA...I will tell u this after i changed wires, 100% no more problems...Radio shack rep i spoke to said that they had alot of exchanges of this cable because of install driver issues!!!! I didn't want anything corrupt file being upload to my Procede!!!

Through the glovebox FTW!!!! Nothing like dragstrip pulls with the laptop on the passenger seat. Now that the firmware and maps are coming regularly, I'm really glad I spent the time to run that sucker through to the glovebox. I hate opening that ECU box and frankly every time you open it up you run the risk of loosening one of the intercept splices accidentally and causing a problem.

I updated this morning and like 2.02 (12/19) very much. Some nice torque improvements below 2,000 rpm. The car pulls harder and no longer sounds breathless. I will "up" the torque setting and fill up with Shell 100 over the next few days.
If 2.03 will be even better than I will be in heaven. If I was gay I'd marry you Shiv. Cheers, CaptOz |

If you have the Radio Shack USB to serial converter, and have the driver already installed on you laptop, make sure to launch the procede software before connecting the USB cable and powering up the car.

Uploaded the new firmware and map... Power feels like its getting distributed more evenly throughout the entire RPM range... I made a log during a second gear pull to redline...

try using the original usb port on your PC that you used, you want the procede software up when you plug in, click go online...

here is a 1st through 4th gear run, time for more boost The cool thing about this, is if you compensate about 2 seconds for the slow start you can kinda guess what you might high in the 1/4 mile as far as speed goes... I stepped on it at ~2.00 seconds into first gear, burnt out, hit 7k rpms in second gear about 5 seconds after that (at ~7.00 seconds), that is about 68-70mph in a 6mt? Just before ~10 seconds after beginning (@ ~12 seconds) seconds i hit 6500 in third gear, which i think is like 100-105mph, shifted a bit early, and cruise up to 5900 rpms in 4th gear about 15 seconds after beginning (at just over 17 seconds) which is about... 120-125mph?
Fun stuff!

Yes, I occasionally get com 4 is unavailable if I connect my laptop to the usb cable prior to launching the Procede software. If I make sure the software is running then physiclaly connect the usb cable, I never get the resource unavailable message.

Make sure it's actually on com4 in the hardware/device manager. Coms are regularly taken up and released, especially com4, and especially on a laptop.

You guys probably already know this, but it's easier to tell what the peak boost number (or peak number on any of the graphs) is if you change the scale on the boost graph (rather than trying to move the line along the graph with the arrow keys). Just left click on the the graph and hit the "p" key, then in the "channel scaling" box, make sure "auto scale" is checked, and change the min value to "0".
Then it rescales the graph and the upper limit on the graph is your peak boost number (wherever it occurs). |

when there are perfectly good ones available for $9.99 like this one. And it doesn't have that rediculous box attached to the wire like the Radio Shack one. What's the advantage of the Radio Shack cable (other than taking 3x as much money out of your wallet)? |

People buy the cable because it what Shiv recommends in his site...People like to follow his instructions to the "T" and thats why i bought the cable and it turned out to be a lemon...I agree its over-priced and not compatible with every system...If he recommended the new-egg cable, everyone would follow in suit!!!
